I'd rather take my chances and be blown up by a terrorist to be frank - I'm sick and tired of all this nonsense, both terrorism and climate change represent little threat to this Country.

Wouldn't it be nice if they spent as much time and money regulating and checking people coming into this country.
Bang on!

And the hidden costs of the non-jobs to administrate it all..we will all pay more for our holidays as a result.

And it rather messes up things if you are a backpacker just following your nose for a year doesn't it?

Oh, you mean like the 20 British pakistanis outed by the pakistan Security services, who have just returned to Britain after receiving training in a known terror camp?

Very well cotrolled is our border, isn't it?

I for one will refuse to give any details out of principle and would go to court even though I would loose.

Out of interest, the FCO tried to get all Brits working in Iraq to contact them with thier detils, 'in case of future emergency'. Yeah right! They did point ot that this was purely voluntary.

As I pointed out on a Ryanair thread the other week (and nobody gave a feck), it's already happening.

Try and book a flight UK to Europe.

You HAVE to include your document details: document serial number, D.O.B, place of issue, nationality, expiry and start date.

Just one detail incorrect and you don't fly.

Quick update...

I have dual nationality and, when flying this weekend, registered my one passport on the sleazyjet site when booking the ticket, and checked in both times using the other passport (just to see what happened)... neither check-in said anything.

Oh yes, the system REALLY works!

Um, I just booked flights to Bergerac with Ryanair and did not have to put anything in. Was quite surprised really as it's the first flight I've ever booked, didn't need passport numbers or DOB or anything. Just enough details to pay for it :s

I don't see anything sinister in needing your ID details in order to fly, it's when you are having to report your reasons for travelling that i would have problems with.

Hmm.. nothing to hide nothing to fear eh? Boll0cks!

The question is why they REALLY want my details. Easyjet said it was legally required after March 14th(?) yet I used a different passport and nothing was said. Riotair aren't even asking for the details so why do I have to provide it with Easyjet?

The ID details are the first part of the E-borders legislation.
The next part will be your reason for travel.

The former is SUPPOSED to be in place but, as we can see, it's not on some airlines and doesn't work on others. Will it be the same for the "reason for travel": just information stored by the government.

Either way...BOTH are unnecessary.

Agree with you there.
