Even worse, I moved up this way last year, Im an hour away now, took the chance & bought a season ticket when they came up last year.

They've got as much snow as they had in 2010 in places

A chilly start to the day in the Canadian Rockies this weekend. Sunshine and Nakiska are opening late due to the low temps, but interestingly Lake Louise is benefitting from a temperature inversion with the top of the hill being a balmy -10°C. Excellent snow conditions all round by all accounts.

Late January, early February is usually when I pop over. I'm really missing this, our attempt at snow doesn't compare. frown

Yup it's crisp alright. -40c (with the wind) here today in Sun Peaks, BC. They closed a couple of lifts. Beautiful sunny day however. I skied most all of the morning before I had to give in and get inside.

Looking possible I might be able to ski in Ontario, some locations are opening up in the next week. The skiing here is quite tame but it would be better than nothing.

Tame sounds ideal to me! Which locations do you recommend in Ontario? I've got some rellies out there and visited years ago - I did some cross country skiing in the Gatineaus, would like to make a trip maybe next year. Proper skiing would be a right bonus!

I’ve not actually skied here yet. I was meant to go last year but I ended up totally out of action in February with a virus.

Within an hour or two from Toronto there are a whole bunch of smaller locations. Blue Mountain is (apparently) the busiest ski resort in Canada.

For some perspective they call them ‘ski hills’ here because it is much more like skiing in the South Downs that in the mountains.

The group I am going to go with are looking at Lakeridge. I think they are mostly beginners.

Hope to get to Bavaria in August. Only booking the bits that are refundable in case of cancellation and only paying with credit card.

As you were.

You can do if you're imaginative and relaxed about the possibility of a fine.

Apologies, I wasn't having a pop - I can go to Munich for work, if I could have skied whilst there I'd have been very very happy.

my hospital is still full, with various areas still converted to overflow Intensive Care, we have staff members dying of the disease, we have just (only 49 minutes ago) held a minutes silence for a nurse who died of CV19 last week. My wife is a nurse,

So I think the imaginative and relaxed flouting of a travel ban is not for me. Much as I dearly want to go on holiday, social mixing of the un-immunised, at levels we have seen previously, is not safe yet.
Hospitals full = turn up at the door of A&E out of breath and find you are turned away to die in the car park.

Sorry to overreact, but come and see the nightmare on the wards.

I have friends of friends in Chamonix, going to Engleberg skiing..Epitomises the selfish behavior of the privileged.

However, I can still get out on my lonesome and will continue to do so, as being confined to my house at 6pm every night is not good for my long term health (CV19 permitting). Photo from my local place this weekend..

Crystal Ski Holidays just confirmed they have cancelled the 2021 season. No surprise but sad state.

You mean the 20/21 season (I thought was already cancelled), or the 21/22 season? Or just anything up until the end of this year?

Horse's mouth:

Sadly, given the ongoing uncertainty and restrictions at home and in ski resorts overseas, we can confirm that we won't be operating any ski holidays this winter.

We're sorry that it's not been possible to get you skiing this winter. We'd have liked nothing more than seeing you on the slopes with your family and friends experiencing everything we all love about the mountains.

Unfortunately this winter hasn't turned out the way any of us hoped and we wish things could've been different.

As we're having to say goodbye to this year's season, now is about looking ahead and making next winter ours, being together and creating new memories in the mountains. We can't wait.
