Apologies if we're all asking too many specific questions but which way out of Bath are you heading?

Currently thinking Tomarton them Wootton under edge on the Cotswold way. Depends on accommodation and camp sites though.

If anyones interested, here are details of what I’m carrying. I’ve since added walking poles, a woolly hat and a sleeping bag liner so rucksack weight comes in at just under 8kg.

I have a bum bag as well so I can go to the pub in the evening and take my important stuff with me.

Very interesting. 8kg’s isn’t too bad. Food and water?
Decided not to cook.

Half litre of water and an emergency sandwich or two. Generally hope to pass enough pubs, shops to stock up as i go. And i use the Refill app which has worked well for water.
This is a brilliant thread OP, something I would love to do. I'm assuming you are retired so have the time to do it?

I do a lot of (car) camping and have a 20yr Trangia cooking set that I've taken all over the place, it's like an old friend. I sometimes daydream about doing such a trip and taking that with me, cooking up a meal each night at camp with food bought en route each day, even if it's just something simple like a tinned chilli con carne or similar. However I guess that's a considerable size and weight to carry?

Looking at something smaller like the Jetboil comes in at 520g, does carrying that kind of thing make a significant difference?

Good luck, following with interest!

On a shorter trip I probably would have taken cooking stuff and food. I’ve got an Alpkit brukit similar to a jetboil. Issue is it all adds up so I had to make some compromises.

By the time you add the brukit, gas, plate, cutlery, cup, coffee and food and cooking water it could add more than a couple of kg. My pack is only 48 litres and I’ve had some upper back problems so something had to give. Its a shame as I love stopping for a coffee en route.

If you haven't already worth reading Traversa by Fran Sandham.

Had a mare arranging camping or accommodation for the next few nights on my planned route.

So rather than Sandford and Bickleigh, I’ll be stopping at Crediton then Tiverton. Don’t think I fancy doing Tiverton to Taunton in one day so probably I’ll sort out camping at Samford Peverell.
What about following the canal Tiverton -Wellington and stopping there overnight?
couldn't find a camp site in wellington. - i think there's one that takes only motorhomes and caravans .
I might be able to help if west buckland is useful.
Bit too far north for me but thanks for the offer.
If you look on Google maps for rumwell farm shop there's a load of woodland opposite just right for hiding a tent .

In Crockernwell and it’s too far to the nearest pub tonight.

Latest video.

After tonight I’m in Airbnb then a Premier Inn due to lack of sites.

Ten days in and 140 miles done. Looking forward to my first rest day but thats not for another 9 days.

There was definitely a photo of a pub towards the end.

There was. It was the Drewe Arms in Drewstaighton. It was about 1.5 miles from the campsite and hilly so not a walk I fancied at the end of the day.

I stopped there in the afternoon on the way in and it was closed for a wake. They served me a couple of pints if I sat outside.

Fortunately a friendly mourner smoking outside popped back in and nabbed me a couple of sandwiches from the buffet .

Superb. This sounds like the biggest pub crawl possible. Living the dream.

Thats really generous thanks. Currently my plan is to walk to Stonehouse, then get a train to Gloucester and stay overnight there. My daughter will drive to Gloucester, we get train back to Stonehouse and walk together back to Gloucester. If that plan changes I’ll certainly get in touch and again thanks.

Your site looks fantastic.

If you fancy a few decent beers, can deliver them to you once you reach West Yorkshire.

Planning on going along the dales way if you’re anywhere near there. Maybe a bit too east.
