Travel destinations for the un-vaccinated
Discussion
Well I can report a smooth transition from Portsmouth to Cherbourg with zero covid f
king about. Our unvaxxed 13year was a cause for minor irritation but France saw sense a couple of days before we were due.
Masks were "recommended" in the boat. They can file that recommendation directly in the binz along with the say, 20% of perfectly healthy wobble heads wearing them still.
Also virtually no signs covid existed in France so far. Happy days.

Just done my monthly check for the Netherlands and their requirement for a 3rd jab.
Still the same as 23rd March. Plenty online about 'all restrictions lifted in NL' and no vaccine requirements from EU or a long list of safe countries. However still that pesky no entry for unvaccinated / unboosted (presumably everyone now on 2 jabs must be at least 270 days on?)
So just 20 million or so UK citizens on the barred list. Anecdotally this still doesn't seem to be checked (because 'all' restrictions are lifted and they have enough things to worry about at immigration.) but remains lurking there as a technicallity.
Anyone experienced immigration recently? Or transited through?

To update this the Netherlands appear to have dropped the lot. Officially.

UK advice (last updated 16th Sept with NL restrictions lifted from the 17th) still saying you need 3 jabs.

But if you're planning on visiting, be aware that Schiphol is f
ked at the moment.. Security staff were getting an extra €5/hour over the summer but that's now stopped so loads have left. Someone was saying they spent 2 hours queuing for passports last weekend as there were only 2 gates open, and that's on top of the luggage drop issues and the reduced number of flights.
Aren't you a parkrunner? Z hunting trip?

Been away twice to Tenerife and Corfu this year and not had Covid proof required.
Going to New York in Feb, anyone been recently and what was the checking like ?
We are currently in the US. Had to be able to prove we were both fully vaccinated to be allowed entry.Going to New York in Feb, anyone been recently and what was the checking like ?
Things are moving quickly though, so this is likely to change before you plan to go. If it doesn’t and you are not vaccinated you will not be allowed into the US.
ETA by prove, I mean actually send copies of our vaccine passports to be checked by BA.

No, the requirement is still in place, although it could change as Biden said the other day that the pandemic was over in the US.

Yes, I heard that too. If that happens, then you do have to wonder if the US will follow suit. Fingers crossed.
They didn’t follow Canada very quickly when it came to opening up to tourists last year so I wouldn’t bet on it. With the USD rate as it is the US isn’t the most attractive prospect as a destination at the moment anyway. Not particularly related to being unvaccinated but it's just been announced that HK are removing their inbound hotel quarantine rules as of Monday.
That's quite a biggie IMO - they have been particularly militant in their approach.
Edit - looks like no pre-arrival PCR test required any more - instead, there will be a screening upon arrival on a 'test & go' basis and visitors can stay in any hotel during a three day medical surveillance, rather than a government-approved one. They will be allowed out during the three days but not to bars or restaurants until the fourth day, assuming arrival PCR is negative.

Wow thats fantastic news - thank you!
My wife landed in Vancouver on Wednesday and was selected for testing, total carry on as you get an email, register, go to pharmacy, half of which only do the tests for a few hours per day vs last year when we were tested at the airport on our way out. Fingers crossed I don’t get selected when I land today because I can’t be arsed with all that. They can’t get rid of this total waste of resources and time too soon.Gassing Station | Holidays & Travel | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
