Book a car for a day and show me a quote.
It's £25 for a single day from Autoreisen at the airport but if you book a whole week in advance then it works out at £15 a day.Or. I could take the bus!
I have been reading the thread, but maybe you could just tell me what it is that I have missed?

Any suggestions for a trip to the South of Fuerteventura? We have been to Lanzarote and Corralejo quite a few times so we are familiar with the Canary Islands but I fancy heading to the south and sitting on a remote beach and doing nothing for a week.
We are happy with a Villa or a hotel.
Plenty of accommodation to choose from Costa Calma southwards. Google is your friend here.We are happy with a Villa or a hotel.
Sotoviento beach is some 30km long but with relatively few access points so if you walk some way you can have a patch all to yourself. Beaches further towards Jandia can get busy but they're still quite pleasant.
You have got the option of a hours drive down a bumpy dirt road over the mountains to Playa de Corfette on the western side which is stunning. That track starts off OK but...
The drive north on the FV 605 from La Pared to Pajara and onto Betancuria is worth a few hours too.
Regarding the roads, all inclusive insurance normally sorts that out!
Edit because I can't type.

That's great thanks. Sotoviento is exactly what I'm after.

Worth checking though.Regarding the roads, all inclusive insurance normally sorts thoughts out!
Often mentioned in the small print you're not covered if you're not on proper roads although there's plenty who do go on them. Check the spare too when you pick the car up, wheels and tyres take a battering and you don't need billing for one somebody else has wrecked.

Would you consider Lanzarote a bit too far for a fly out Friday and back on Sunday ?
We usually do a week pre covid and the wife starts a new job feb this year so I was thinking of a weekend in the sun, Majorca was favourite but there are very little flights available this time of year.
I'm not long back from three nights (Friday 13th - Monday 16th) with good flight times (13.00 out and 11.30 return). We usually do a week pre covid and the wife starts a new job feb this year so I was thinking of a weekend in the sun, Majorca was favourite but there are very little flights available this time of year.
We stayed here as it was £164 for three nights and it's massive with great views: https://www.booking.com/hotel/es/casa-amanecer-5.e...
Car hire for four days was £65.25 (£16.31/day)
Whilst the travelling was all straightforward and apartment 10mins drive from the airport, we got two full days in the sun. I think for the one day that you're essentially suggesting (Saturday) the faff vs effort wouldn't be worth it.
On the flip side, I'm not sure I'd want to spend more than 3 nights in Lanzarote. Fine for a sunny mini break but it really is as culturally bleak as the landscape.

I can see why youd think that staying on the airport perimeter in Tias.... We stayed here as it was £164 for three nights and it's massive with great views: https://www.booking.com/hotel/es/casa-amanecer-5.e...

Absolutely, plenty of nice places on the coast if you spend a few more pennies and travel a few more minutes, not quite so bleak as suggested and very clean in my opinion. ben5575 said:

I think we covered virtually every paved road outside of the towns in 3 days. There was some culture but it did take some digging out. We liked El Golfo and Caleta de Famara. My hat goes off to some of the farmers who seemed to be absolutely scratching a living even for the area. The beaches around Papagayo were great too, this one took a bit of scrambling to get to.

Anyone flying back from Canaries today or tomorrow can you report on any delays due to French ATC strike ?
We are due to fly back Friday afternoon so fingers crossed … Strike finishes at 6am Friday.
We arrived back early hours of this morning. Friday 27/01We are due to fly back Friday afternoon so fingers crossed … Strike finishes at 6am Friday.
No issues at all.
Strait through at Las Palmas airport.
Strait through at Manchester on return.
Help me chaps - I need some inspiration!
Planning on heading to <somewhere> in the Canaries for two weeks early March. My ‘plan’ is as follows;
Fly Saturday (probably 4th).
Have Sunday, Monday & Tuesday to myself.
Work via laptop Wednesday to Friday
Weekend to do whatever.
Work Monday & Tuesday.
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday (and possibly Saturday) to do whatever.
Fly home either 18th or 19th.
Not sure which island to go to, or which resort to stay in.
I’ll need decent Wi-Fi so that I can ‘WFH’ (work from hotel? )
I’m going on my own but my daughter seems to want to come out for a few days at some point
I’m easy on accommodation but think I might prefer B&B/HB in a hotel purely for the fact that there will probably be other people around - I do like my own company but not sure I fancy two weeks solitude in an Air BnB.
Planning on doing a bit of running whilst I’m there but not too much! Will take a few books and quite happy to people watch.
Went to Meloneras last year with the kids but it’s an absolute fortune to stay in the hotel we went to for two weeks lol.
Over to the hive mind…..

The abandoned hotel is a good little visit in LZ. The beaches around Papagayo were great too, this one took a bit of scrambling to get to.

Built without planning in the early 70's apparently. The rock pools right next to it are impressive too, actually got him to walk that bit.

Are there any actual proper 5 star properties int he Canaries/adult only places?
Used to live in Lanza and the 5 star hotels were of a 4 star standard if that some years ago.
I posted the answer your seek a few pages back. the two that are in a space of their own is the Hotel Botanico and the Ritz Carlton Abama.Used to live in Lanza and the 5 star hotels were of a 4 star standard if that some years ago.
if you remove the adults only requirement there's more options but they will lack Michelin starred restaurants.
hotels like the Adrian Navaria in Adeje, Rui Oasis Maspalomas, Rui Palace Gran Canaria and the Victoria in Adeje.

It is, although we had a 1 year old and a newr 3 year old that didn't want to walk so my arms were killing by the time we got back to the car, didn't want to risk the Fiat 500 on the approach road.

Yeh the pools are amazing, I've fished over there a lot on the west coast, met a retiree over there who fishes it daily and knew about the abandoned hotel. Locals fish below the hotel area quite a bit and it gets very nasty if foreigners go down and certain species of fish are around. Built without planning in the early 70's apparently. We had a Citroen C3 raised jobby so it just about coped.
I went once with him and a few other people, ended up tripping over and cutting my knew up about 5 minutes out the car lol...felt like a right prick bearing in mind its an hour from anywhere, swells are dangerous and I think phone reception bar none it's quite a stupid place to fish.
Looks like the Lanzarote government want fewer Brits to visit their island
