Does everyone start ganging up on you if your watch isn't fancy enough?

I assumed people scuttled to their seat and started working or sleeping.
Sleeping or drinking. Very little working.

Not sure I've ever seen anyone working TBF.

On a Dreamliner or an A380, economy is fine, IMO. You're in the same plane as everyone else, breathing the same recycled farts and drinking the same flat, lukewarm coffee. There is nothing worse than sitting around the business class bores, all passive-aggressively trying to out-cock each other.

This thread has been great reading though, funny as fk. The OP was hilarious (if it was actually serious then I'm due a parrot)
Yes Steve, exactly as you describe. Lukewarm coffee, smelly, dheads outdoing each other everywhere. Aweful. Just aweful. You stay back there grumbling and I'll try and cope with it all.

I agree, most BC products are far better, but hardest thing to believe about his post is that flying on a 787 Squeezeliner is remotely comfortable.

Responding with that photo just proves my point rofl

Why did you need to take a photo of yourself (assume that's you and not your wife) looking scruffy sat in a plane seat, unless it's to try and show off about something? Smug points lost for having the little pillow blocking the view of your Rolex.

My father once flew on the jump seat of Cathay Pacific 747,Hong Kong to London. It was called Club in his travelling days and lounges were reserved for status holders,if you didn’t have the correct card you weren’t getting in. Neither love or money would change that.

You can’t even see the cock pit these days never mind get a lift home.

On balance - Outbound - definitely worth paying the extra for business. Inbound - Economy was good enough.
"European Business Class" is rarely worth it over economy, usually you're on small planes with standard seating so all you get is a seat at the front of the plane, middle seat left empty, priority boarding and maybe a decent meal and free drinks. Maybe worth it if the cost to upgrade is cheap. I've upgraded myself at check in for a few Bucharest - Aberdeen flights but I've also gone without it, as 2.5 hours to Amsterdam and 1 hour to Aberdeen pass by quickly.

But long-haul is a different case, especially if the airline offer a decent BC product.
This.

Not sure why you’d ever bother with BC on flights of a few hours as f all different.

And I have the pain of flights to Alicante back to my house there and have to suffer the Benidorm crowd. Always amusing as half the flight tend to be well to do villa owners and the other half Benidorm stag do’s. V necks versus vests.

Tier points.
If I know I’m going to be short and £90 gets me an extra 30 tier points on a leg, I’ll upgrade.
No other reason than that.

Wife and I have flown BA Club Europe for many years . I use my Avios to get my ticket, and the companion voucher for her, total cost is the APT. Good deal financially, as I have the Avios. Indeed, I have many thousands to spend and probably not the time to use them all!

It only really proves you have a chip on your shoulder.

My mrs took that photo, because were were having a super time, off on holiday, being, you know, happy. And yes, I was looking super smug.

Rolex, lmao.

Can i just say we’re not trying to out cock each other we’re often just comparing frequent flyer mile balances or how far we’ve flown that month, tbh.

No lukewarm coffee on Emirates/Etihad/Oman biz (and probably quite a few more) - they have an espresso machine onboard biggrin

Just got back from a long weekend in Valencia. We flew with BA from Heathrow (T3 for some reason) and booked economy. Total cost was approx £360 for 2 people.

BA offered the chance to upgrade to business for £90 / person / leg - I decided to do this for the outbound, but left the inbound as economy.

We checked in on-line and only had hand baggage, so no advantages there.
The BA lounge at T3 was decent enough. I wouldn't call it opulent, but the food was pretty decent and you could help yourself to as much booze as you wanted. This was a definite plus and was far better than I was expecting
The flight was totally rammed, and they were putting all of the wheelie bags in the hold. Another plus, as they left the business passengers alone.
On the plane, as has been said, it's the same seat with no-one in the middle. I think there might be slightly more legroom, but I'm not certain.
There was another breakfast served on the plane, and again free-flowing booze. I'll mark this one as neutral, as this meant we didn't fancy any lunch once we got to Valencia.

On the way back, the last thing we wanted was any more food or booze, which is one reason why I left it as economy. The flight was again rammed, but we were far enough up the queue for boarding that the woman tagging wheelie bags didn't get to us. We only just managed to find homes for our bags. Flight was fine, but seat was a bit cramped.

On balance - Outbound - definitely worth paying the extra for business. Inbound - Economy was good enough.
I’m not taking the piss - but were you definitely on a BA flight rather than just booking through them? I’ve recently booked via BA but selected an AA flight as I like the T3 lounges so much - however last year AA were flying from T5. Would be great if AA are back in T3.

Valencia is one of about short haul 20 routes that BA has already or is moving to T3 this weekend. There’s some long hauls due to move nearer the summer.

All AA back at T3 now.

I’ve always flown economy on package holidays, with out doubt Emirates are the best.
I’ve always wanted to “turn left” on a flight but the cost is well beyond me. However on a trip to Phuket we did turn left.. we booked through TUI on a direct 13 hour flight in a Dreamliner. There was an option of Premium Club seats, at £460 extra each return. Sod it let’s do it.
Priority check in, fast track security, A1 lounge, priority boarding, super seats with wide screen, choice of meals, free booz, 2 toilets between 30 passengers.
For a humble holiday maker it was great, well worth the extra.
