We got a good deal to swap so it only cost us £550 a head for a week in a 5* hotel called Lopesan Baobab. Checked in earlier and so far so good the hotel is really nice for the price.

If the St Lucia flights go ahead then its not the end of the world as we still got away!
I was booked on the same St Lucia flight for the same hotel. I left the booking active as we had upgraded the room and flight and Tui offer an incentive to re book.

Got the email confirming it's cancelled around 6pm yesterday and an offer of 40% incentive if I amend it within 14 day of my date of departure.

In the mean time I rebooked for Fuerteventura for a week on Wednesday as a new booking.

Isn't foreign travel (for a holiday rather than business) banned?

Seems an odd thing to do!

Not only international travel but travel within the UK too unless it is essential or work related, as per the just published full guidelines.

Wife and had booked a trip from Surrey to Falmouth, Cornwall, heading off tomorrow, away for 5 nights, to see family. I cancelled the hotel booking last Saturday in anticipation of a national lockdown about to come into force. This afternoon the hotel announced it will be closed during the lockdown period except for essential and other workers, like all other UK hotels.

Perhaps you mean that you are going away for a week and traveling tomorrow (Wednesdays) before lockdown. Seems you have caused confusion by using the phrase 'a week on Wednesday' which of course would not be possible as thats after imposition of lockdown.

Apologies, this is what I mean, it was late and I should have worded it better. I travel today, Wednesday

Break to the New Forest, booked for next week, is obviously now off after last weekend's news....after looking I can't see anything stopping us re-arranging it and going to Wales instead, given their "firebreak" finishes this weekend?

Am I missing something?

Yes, you can't leave England and we can't leave Wales.

Ah, that's a pain in the arse.....although I guess the chances of being stopped are likely to be minimal...

I wouldn't bank on it. Gwent and Powys can be pretty voracious although there are some villages which straddle the border.

I abandoned a lockdown nocturnal dash to Bristol airport for a holiday as I figured they'd just police the two bridges. Now I'm a victim of the English lockdown as I would possibly have risked a national lockdown breach if I had anywhere to go.

Made it Shnozz. No police on any municipality borders. Given the news in England tonight, if the situation in Spain remains unchanged we might be staying for a while because we want to. It was 23C when we landed at 5pm smile
I see bars and restaurants in your region are due to close their doors (takeaway aside) from Saturday. Our region recorded its worst figures since this all begun today so doesn't bode well for here either. And lots of rumours still circulating regarding a further national full on home confinement.

Hey, at least its sunny!

Yep. So long as we are not prevented from leaving our place for exercise then we are fine just enjoying the sunshine. We had a frost at home in the UK this morning. Yuck!

If you are looking to buy or rent a property you can leave your home in England to visit an estate agent or to undertake a viewing www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2020/1200/pdfs/uksi_20...

The regulation doesn't place any restrictions on where you might be looking to buy or rent, whether in England or anywhere else in the world, so someone might choose to book some viewings over a few days in the location which happened to coincide with their week long 'holiday' booking - and of course the family needs to come to offer their view.

I am considering staying out here for the duration of the lockdown.

I had a lovely day today driving between inland villages, an espresso or sparking water at each in my tiny Toyota. Nothing goes like a spanked hire car!

With parking like that you should not be leaving the house smile
