You did better than I ever have, the best I managed was the £25 day trips they did from time to time.

Oh and another thing, Majestic Wines which used to be next door is now a massive soup kitchen for migrants. If going to Calais Wines leave nothing on show in the car.
I was there a couple of weeks ago, Calais Wines had two staff out in the car park permanently just to keep the pond life out of their car park.

Nothing wrong with the ferry trip, happy to do that again.

I haven't been on the ferry since the tunnel opened, but - booked for a shopping trip. Cheers for the info
You have to collect the free wine from down the road from the port, where you collect it from I would describe as unsafe.

The pond life hanging around (dozens of migrants) are bordering on intimidating.

Me neither.

It is one thing seeing it on the news, it is quite another driving through it.

Sorry, this isn't a Eurotunnel question, but we've discussed the track width in their carriages at some length - what are the P&O ferry ramps like for loading sports cars with low clearance?
Boxster/TVRs ok, something with a low front spoiler might need a diagonal approach.

Dunno why but this only seems to be an issue at Calais. We quite often do the Dover Dunkirk (DFDS) crossing and have never seen anyone hanging around.
I asked in the wine store and they said there is a place locally that gives them free food so they come from miles.

I am not talking about just a few people, dozens of blokes 20/30 years old, all fleeing persecution.

If you think that is bad you should see the area near the port of Caen, even worse.

If anyone wants a laugh and has time to kill, get a Eurotunnel quote for a day trip this Friday rofl

Is anyone actually daft enough to pay those prices?

The "March Sale" wasn't on when I did my quote, but that is the least of my worries:

So £392 more to cross with a Porsche that a Nissan, understandable really, carrying all those passengers and taking up all that space - good work Eurotunnel curse

Easy to save £100 on wine and beer buying in Calais (you'd probably need two people's wine allowances)

I'm not sure why the fare would be a laugh?
Have you read the two quotes above?

They are for the same crossings in two different cars, I didn't opt for flexiplus it is selected for you once you put your reg number in.

I know you don't like Eurotunnel, you've made that clear throughout the thread, but let's be honest about the day trip fares

ps: I did the quote with my Cayman S and it didn't propose Flexiplus, even though I was logged in and usually did the crossing in that car in Flexi in the past
That isn't accurate or fair, I detest Eurotunnel.

I am being asked to pay £492 for the same crossings in a Porsche compared to £100 in a Nissan, that is my problem not the £100 quid.

Out of interest can I ask what year your Cayman S is?

Sure, it's 2006
So a 987 Boxster is £492 like my 981

Pricing per journey is over the top in my view..

eg, May half term, Tunnel was £300 return Sat to Sat, Ferry £190, tunnel was always a little more but not 50%.
I think it is fair to say the tunnel set the prices and the ferrys follow, why wouldn't they.

I wonder how that pricing would look if the journey started in the UK, similar crossings.

Me neither.
Run half the trains, charge twice as much?

No matter what train you book they combine 2/3 of them and don't stick to any times.
