The tube will generally be quicker than a cab but it's soul destroying.
If you have a weak, mincey soul. The tube is bloody marvellous outside of peak hours.

This.

Also, get on carriage 4 or 6 at Kings Cross, then carriages 4, 5 or 6 at Oxford Circus, thus minimising platform walk times.

It's a depressing hole, inhabited by rude aggressive depressing people and I hate having to use it, so I get a cab as much as possible.

That's harsh. In 2005, someone smiled AND spoke to me on a tube.

Was she telling you a sob story about not having enough money to feed her children and holding out a small hat towards you?

As a regular user you know to keep your head down and not to engage anyone. A non regular user/tourist would call you a miserble git - but a regular would know this is how you avoid the nutters and wierdos

Well I survived! I went with the original suggestion of Piccadilly/northern line changing at Leicester square. My train down from Wakefield was delayed so I just scraped my connection by literally a couple of minutes. Had to run up and down the escalators and stairs like a madman! Thanks for the help anyway. I drove back home in my newly acquired vx220 biggrin

Good news on the VX220.

Minus several hundred man points for not understanding transport networks.

lol I dont think just asking for a bit of advice from locals amounts to a general lack of understanding of the transport network. I did manage to find my way around 3 stations I've never set foot in before carrying a heavy bag and running so I think I did ok.

Honestly some of the trolls on here!
