On the subject of this and of a rather more illegal and "raw" Chernobyl visiting experience take a look on Youtube at some of the videos done by Shiey - twice now he and a couple of other guys have walked in and sneaked about exploring, staying in abandoned farm building on the walk in, and in abandoned apartments when in Pripyat. I get the impression there are quite a lot of these urban explorers in Pripyat at any given time.

On one of them they walk back via the giant Duga radar (and climb it).

This is the one with Pripyat ---> Duga antenna.

I'm claustrophobic and there's one somewhere of him and some other urbex guys getting into some underground bunker by crawling down a pipe that is just bigger than shoulder width and there's a sort of valve thing in the middle. I feel sick watching it.

Urgh - all that jumping around atop of Duga makes my palms sweaty!

It looks fascinating - the whole walk to Pripyat and sneaking around looks like just my kind of thing.

A friend of mine booked this tour before the pandemic hit. A couple of weeks before he was due to fly out, the tour company rang him to cancel. They said there were too few bookings to make it worthwhile.

That did make me smile. smile
