Is that Meeru?

Have just come back from Ranveli. Talk about Deserted Island. At one point there were only 3 couples holidaying on the island.

Went to Meeru back in 2006. Big island. Did you see much waterlife?

Take care with the Maldives because our summer is their wet season I think...
In theory, but I've had better weather there in July compared to December.
It's odd but when I was last there (March 2008) I was speaking to some of the locals and they said that the rainy season had been very unpredicable for the past couple of years. Having said that, in March 2007 we only had one afternoon of rain, the same as 2008.

Yep. Lots of water life at the north end of the island or to the east side. Didn't bother with the house reef as was told this wasn't worth the trip.

We chose Meeru due to its size (one of the largest resorts in the Maldives - 1.2km by 0.5km) as it was our first holiday not being on a mainland, so didn't want to get bored by being able to circumnavigate an island in ten mins. Needless to say I don't think I'd have gotten bored on a smaller island so that won't bother us in future. Really enjoyed the island. We had wall-to-wall sunshine for 15 days.

Would like to go back next year, but are looking at other smaller islands too.

Weather is a little unstable at the moment. This March was the hottest they have seen in several years, but for the last week or so the weather has been quite wet/couldy (but still hot!) due to the unusual weather in March.
