I went to Israel then crossed the border into Egypt with no problem.
Trickiest part was leaving Israel and explaining why we'd spent most of the holiday in Egypt not Israel.

Syria, Iraq, and Iran is where you'll need an Israeli-stamp-free passport.
I think you will also find Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Dubai.... are places you don't want to try and enter with a stamp from Israel.

Saudi, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar etc too.

If you have been to Israel and might need/want to go to an "arab" country (or vica versa), you are definately better off without a stamp in your passport.

Well yeah .. and also Lebanon, Pakistan, Sudan and Yemen if we're going to do the full list.

Were off there next week. After a bit of reserch I understand its handling the money over there that you get most of the dodgy squirts from.

You either seem to get the squits or you don't, we as a couple have been to Egypt a few times now and I always get them despite taking all the precautions where as the other half never does

If you do get a dodgy belly don't muck about get yourself to the chemist and buy the local drugs to cure your woes ,not only are they cheaper but the seem to do the job a damn site better than anything you can buy over the counter in the UK

I know loads of people that have been there, every single one of them have sh*t themselves stupid for a week. I don't know why people still go there, filthy place.
don't drink the water or anything that's been washed in it - so no ice in drinks and no salads (no matter how nice they look!) - and you'll be fine.

In all seriousness, guzzling a glass of neat gin will do the trick if there is no medicine to hand. Make sure it's AFTER the dive!

ETA: drink as much (bottled) water continually as you can handle. Dehydration can hit you very quickly, especially after a dive when you've been losing fluid by breathing dry air for 45 minutes.

We used ice, ate salad and washed our teeth with tap water without issues in our hotel. I'll admit to being more circumspect out and about though.

Absolutely - we had a week there a few years back (Sharm), used hand-gel before food and after handling money, were careful where we ate, and were absolutely fine.

That said, I understand how people can get really ill - was totally, miserably out-of-action for 3+ days in Thailand after eating something dodgy in Siem Reap, Cambodia.

It was one of the restuarants there that i got ill from! Can't remember exactly, Narrowed it down to the bernaise sauce i had on my steak as my mate had EXACTLY the same right before he was ill!

Lovely place though!

I went to Sharm for a week 2 years ago. Got the sts half way through and the medicine from the local chemist didnt really work. The 5 hour flight home was a nightmare and not an experience I would like to repeat!
