Just back from Austria, St. Anton. Good food, reasonable drink prices (for a ski resort) good snow most of the time. Afternoons got a bit moguly (sp?) and icey but pretty good fun.

Had a great time would have to seriously think about ever going back to be bent over by the french.

I'm in Bansko at the moment. It is hard in the morning, but soon softens. The resort is very quiet at this time of year, so it doesn't get too cut up later on. I've been to the local ski area Dobrinishte, and across to Borovets as well. I've had some of the best on and off piste I've ever experienced. Some fresh powder a few times, and deserted millionaire skiing most of the time.

Oh, and €20 (40 Leva) would get a basic meal, something like chicken bites and a salad or fries, and about 4-5 drinks for four people.

More fresh forecast as well thumbup

Looks OK for the time of year. We're at Les Arcs this week. GL with your trip, go high.

Off to Whistler for 2weeks with the GF on the 1st April!! biggrin
Awesome, have fun! I was there for a quick 6 day trip last week, well worth it (although jet lag was tremendous!). I was lucky enough to have 3 days of fresh while I was there, and bought a pair of Rossi S7s which are truly impressive. Cockalorum and Winky Pop have always been terrifing, this year they were merely pant-wetting . . .

Fingers crossed you get some good spring skiing. May be best to stay high on Blackcomb if it turns out to be icy lower down.

"Cardrona, Treble Cone, Ohau, Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Snow Park NZ, Porters, Mount Cheeseman, Broken River, Craigieburn Valley, Temple Basin and Mount Olympus. "

You could easily do that yourself without sweat, the Wanaka/QT fields are all a piece of piss to deal with and get to, fly to QT from chch for peanuts.

The cragiburn fields are quite underdeveloped compared to what your used to (probably) with some of them only having rope tows, infact non of them have chairs I think as yet.

I usualy go to Porters as my home field, 1hr from chch, Big Mama is an incredable run (longest on the S hemi) with pow but a horrid field for bad sno days.

QT fields are pricey, Canty fields can be done cheap with a chill pass.

Ohau is an incedable field midle of nowhere 1 chairlift great terrain.

i like the idea of the tour as i will be going alone on this one, would 2 weeks to go for 2 weeks in Wanaka/QT areas?

The QT/Wanaka areas are good for a hols, sites are all well developed (for NZ), its a coin tooss on snow conditions (between Qt and cragiburn).

Concrete peak has lots of snowmaking so its always on at least.

Off to Chamonix on Thursday for a boys weekend - weather looks warm, I'm guessing it's getting quite spring like?
