Yes I was in zimbabwe in early 1990s, I think, it was quite a place, but I can't think of a name either unless it was also called Zimbabwe as well.

Not there though, so let's not wrack our brains too hard. Short grass and ferns suggest altitude, maybe, but the only African non-colonial buildings like that I can think of are in Ethiopia.
