Bill got ice, so presumably it is something to do with it.
We know where it is, so are we guessing what the ice was for?

Ice supply to the bars of Geneva for martinis maybe!

I understand pre refrigeration it was shifted around in big lumps to people cooling cabinets.

It was one of the 19th century’s largest ice harvesting operations and the lake is also unusual in having two outfalls
It’s not anywhere near a glacier tho.

I suspect we may have exhausted knowledge on this one. I’ll post the answer around lunchtime and if no one is any closer then Bill can have it for getting the use right?
