My two pennies about Joshua Tree is that if you’re heading east it might be worth entering at the west gate and then following the scenic road down and exiting onto the I-10 from the Cottonwood entrance. That way you’ll pass all the main sights.

Excellent. There’s a general Patton museum just along the I-10, I didn’t have time to stop there on my way through but the Google reviews seem like it might be worth a look. I didn’t get a chance to visit the Titan missile museum either, save that for another day I guess.

Great suggestion. I love Joshua Tree.
