Anyone have any info for Sunday flying 2pm?

In-laws are departing for Copenhagen and with trains st on a Sunday I am driving them to the airport. They want to be there about 11:30. No check in luggage but had suggested they might want to allow a little more time for security alone.
drop them at 10am

well, given that it's hard to predict whether it will be a full on 3-4 hour slog or whether it will be straight through, rather than worry about it and make it your life's work to establish an equation to represent the risk, just turn up 4 hours before and you're covered. Especially as you're not the one hanging around the airport.

haha, well maybe malicious compliance is in order... you said 11:30am so 11:30am it is, oh you missed your flight, that's a shame. Anyway sorry you can't stay back at ours as we have a thing. Hope you get sorted.

When I was doing airport work I always allowed myself at least an hour more than necessary, then if my customers said they wanted to leave an hour or so later, which many did, they would be reluctant to put the blame on me if we got held up anywhere and were pushing for time.

could be three to four hours to clear security, could be 20 minutes. we are/were all in the same boat.

3hrs before flight should be ok. I flew out of T1 last Thursday afternoon. About 1hr to clear security not helped by only having two lanes open and bellends not understanding what cannot go in hand luggage rolleyes

There were a lot of security staff mincing about doing nothing. If I was the manager I’d have got a grip, got them to tidy up the litter mess for a start so we don’t look like a third world country and jump on another scanner to get people through.

I flew out of of T3 last night, it was awful. 1 hour 15 minutes to get through security to then get into departures that was like a refugee camp. Rubbish everywhere and half the food places shut. I’m glad I didn’t have a case to check in, god knows what that queue was like!

We’ve not even got to school holidays yet, it can only get worse.

Flew out yesterday. Due to a scheduling cock up by me and the flight being delayed by 30 mins, got there 3.5 hours before we flew.

Very very busy, but got checked in within an hour as we had priority boarding due to one of the party members being in a wheelchair. Usually get checked in within 30 mins

No problem getting a drink or a snack. But £20 for a pint and g&t!

However a lot of flights were delayed, which added to the problems.

TBH, will probably go from somewhere else next year.

Out of T5 last Saturday, back a week later. By far the worst part was the "fast track" (ha) security queue at 6am on the way out. Only two scanners in operation compared to about 10 for non-fast-track. Took about 40 minutes to get through but by the time you were in the queue you couldn't get back out into the normal security line. Not the first time that's happened to be fair but it's still annoying. A-gate lounges looked rammed but luckily we were going from a B gate; the lounge was very comfortable and virtually empty.

Way back was as clear as I've ever seen it. Landed 8:50pm and we were in the taxi by 9:30 (and yes, we had checked luggage).

Assume this is LHR, as there is no T5 in Manchester?

D'oh. Saw T3 and jumped in.

But anyway, thought you might be interested in what's happening elsewhere biggrin

6:50 flight out of T1 Manchester yesterday (Sunday) morning.
There 2.5hrs ahead of flight - no bother at all, however I never travel without security fast track these days

A relaxed eye watering st breakfast was our reward for good progress.

The trouble is though that it does not stop the issues we are seeing with queues to even get into the airports, check in and security, "loss" of baggage, flights being cancelled when people are at airports, even on planes getting ready to take off, diversions to other airports, people being stuck on planes unable to get off, big queues for refreshments, at immigration etc, even though many flights themselves are still going.

Not to mention rising prices for the privilege and the seeming inability of airline and airports to have anybody there to help and pass on information.

Who in their right mind would willingly sign up for this to then have to get up at 06.00 every day to reserve a sunbed smile
Me. laugh I'm through T1 on Friday morning to Athens via Munich. Will report back

Are you taking your sunbed with you?

Good luck anyway.

I'm more a deserted beach type of fella, fortunately the other half prefers a more natural environment as well.

Is anyone travelling regularly on business through MAN T1 that can give their recent experience?

I travel to Gibraltar out of T1 for work quite regularly normally, however I'm not on some business class or flag carrier, it's with Easyjet (daily flight). Outbound it's a 6.10 flight so it's arrive at 3am as per advice. Last time the queue for bag drop was snaking out through the car park, luckily I'd gone hand luggage only (2 bags with a long legroom seat) so it was security only with was 15-20 minutes.

I'm not going again until this chaos ends - I might just have got lucky with the security queue.
