I can recommend staying at the Normandy Beach B&B in Arromanches. Run by an English couple who can also give you loads of pointers on where to go.

In addition to the cemeteries and whatnot, I can also recommend the excavated German encampment at Grancamp-Maisy, Pointe-du-Hoc and the batterie of Longues-sur-mer.

Arromanches is close enough to Bayeux you can always pop in and see the tapestry, and the weekly market is pretty decent.

If you're willing to go a little further afield, I can also recommend the German ossuary/memorial at Huisnes-sur-Mer which is rather sobering and shines a slightly different light on things.

It’s been a few years but the Hotel de France et Des Fuchsias in Saint Vaaste le Hoogue had a fab restaurant.

Several great lunches before getting the ferry back from Cherbourg.

This is a great trip, I did it in my TT about 15 years ago.

Everyones noted good places to go. I stayed here, it was absolutely gorgeous https://www.booking.com/hotel/fr/chambres-d-ha-tes...

Will be going back one day for a trip!

We were due to visit Normandy again in September for the opening of the new British D Day Memorial. https://www.normandymemorialtrust.org/news-story/v...

But of course Corona has put paid to all that. All being well the place should open early summer next year.

One more reboot
We did visit Normandy in the end ( suffering a 14 day quarantine as a result )
In 3 days we managed to fit in
Saint Mere Eglise , and the Airborne Museum , Crisbecq gun battery
Arromanches beach and D Day museum , Gun battery at Longues Sur Mer and Merville , Radar installation at Douvres-la Deliverande
Bayeux Museum and Commonwealth Cemetery ( with a few tears)
Pegasus Bridge and Museum.

Grandson enjoyed the experience as did we .
We stayed at the Camping Municipal des Bords de l’Aure
Fantastic facilities , good size pitches for camping and motorhomes , but some of the pitches were a bit cramped for a caravan
