Nice places in Kuala Lumpur, anyone been?
Discussion
I am off to KL on Monday, weather looks hot and wet, I have a few days business and a few days play.
Looking for any local knowledge of nice places to take clients, interesting spots, car related time wasting etc..
I am staying in the city centre but can travel for interesting sights.
Thanks, HMB

Bird sanctuary is interesting if you like birds, the "tweet tweet" variety, not the "love u long time ten dollar" type. does get a bit warm though as it's outside.
Night markets all over town also are cool to go to for atmosphere, not on every night though IIRC - enjoyed this the most probably on my visit, was only there a few days...

KL Tower is fun, has a revolving restaurant at the top - food isn't spectacular but the views at night are.
If you want to go to the Petronas towers viewing level, get there (very) early. They only sell tickets on the day, booth opens at 8:30am but there will be long queue before then.
There's a nice walk from the station, past the national mosque and up to where the Bird Park is. If you're not fussed about walking around then there's a cafe with a terrace that's inside the huge netted park so you can watch the birds flying about. There's a very good butterfly park just down the road too.

The Batu Caves could be worth a visit:

Maybe not if you've only got a couple of days though, or if you don't like steps.
I loved the whole place when I was there.

Nerovivo is a very nice Italian restaurant I went to. Good wine, good steak, great mixed seafood starter.

If you are looking for a wide choice of local food, try Changkat Bukit Bintang, just off Bukit Bintang, and the streets of that area. Forget the "modern" local bars full of pissed up Brits and such, look for the local "Indian" bars usually great atmosphere with good local musicians, mixing different musical tastes and such.

This.I stupidly stayed in the Ritz Carlton and ate far too often in the StarHill Gallery. Waste of time - decent enough food, but very very bland as a place. Though interesting to browse a few watches and the like in the hugely expensive shops.
Batu Caves are worth a shot, or, if you want a condensed version get a cab driver to take you round and do all the sights (I only had two or three days, so did this). It's a real whistle stop tour, but might be worth it - your concierge can probably square it off.
Oh, and it's DEFINITELY worth the extra for the nicer cab from the airport. The boggo cabs are not air conditioned and it can be pretty damn muggy out there. Oh, and aside from that, for lunch, find a cafe where the locals all go and eat there - best £2.50 or so I ever spent.
Sky Bar is very cool with great views of Petronas Towers, especially at night.

I can recommend the Beach Club.
I'm sure you can. Worth a look if thats your kind of thing.
The bar on top of the Traders hotel is very good.
The Menara tower is easier and somewhat less disappointing than going up the Petronas. I seem to remember a good number of threads on here about KL. Do a search there is some good info.

Night markets are great. Go to the Batu Caves, quite fun feeding the monkeys there. Also Central Market is worth a visit.
When did you last go up there and how much did they charge you?Night markets are great. Go to the Batu Caves, quite fun feeding the monkeys there. Also Central Market is worth a visit.
Edited to say; Just googled and theyve started to charge this year. 10 Ringget = ï¿¡2, still excellent value
