Wife and I are getting away for a long weekend to Little Compton in November and although I have an idea of things we are going to do, and there will be plenty of advice from the B&B owner, I always like to get the opinions of other PHers!

So, things to see / pubs to go to / restaurants to treat ourselves / worth going to Cheltenham? etc.

If you fancy a drive out and love horses then visit the valley of the racehorse = lambourne, time it right and you'll see millions of pounds worth of horse flesh galloping around, then head to eastbury and lunch at the the plough pub, outstanding food, recommended the fillet and triple cooked chips and pepper sauce.http://theplougheastbury.co.uk/

If you want some auto action, theres a car museum in Bourton on the Water: small private affair but good value and an hour or two well spent. BitW is worth a visit anyway as its a really pretty place. There is also a model railway shop/display as well which is quite good.

In the trading estate on the outskirts of Bourton there is also Legends

if you fancy a bit of window shopping smile

Other than that Cirencester is pretty and worth a visit: the Corinium Museum regularly wins awards and the Church is open to the public (if you are lucky you may be there on a day when they open the bell tower up to visitors).

Broadway is a nice village to visit and a good drive up/down Fish Hill

tbh there are so many pretty places: Bibury; Castle Coombe; Lacock (plus Abbey); Moreton in Marsh; Stow in the Wold (check you arnt there when the travellers have their bi-annual horse fair eek

Just drive. The roads and scenery are beautiful.

I did a lot of roads a few weeks ago. There are lots of PDF files on the net with suggested routes which take in the best towns and villages. Along with suggested times to allow.

Have a look here http://www.theopenroad.co.uk/Cotswolds-Vintage&amp...

Bourton-On-The-Water, Broadway, Stow-On-The-Wold, Chipping Norton (though the High St was closed to traffic - not sure if reopened yet), and Warwick, I'm not keen on Stratford-Upon-Avon, though my ex Grandmother in law lived in a very special house there so we visited anyway.

Have fun.

I was going to suggest the Cotswold Motoring Museum in Bourton, but I think it's closed. Closes 3rd November.

Batsford Falconry is a good afternoon, if you like that sort of thing. Also Broadway is always a good bet.

Personally, I think Cheltenham in November will be a little dull, unless you want to look at the Wishing Fish Clock designed by Kit Williams, which is in Regent's Arcade. http://www.regentarcade.co.uk/centre-info-history....

Barnsley House spa would be a treat for some lux R&R. http://www.barnsleyhouse.com/

If the weather's good, the walk up to Broadway Tower from Broadway would be worthwhile and the views excellent. http://www.broadwaytower.co.uk/

Prescott is just north of Cheltenham, so a possibility for a poke about. http://www.prescott-hillclimb.com/usefulinformatio...

Countless pubs and so on with fires and good food - B&B will advise, as you say. Enjoy. It's pretty round here.

I don't think anyone's mentioned Gaydon motoring museum yet? Will be about half hour drive from where you're staying I think.
