Cancun v Barbados ??
Discussion
I'm lucky enough to have enough airmiles to get 2 flights on BA for me and the Mrs. Planning to leave the kids at home and do an adults break mid July. I'm limited on dates / destinations as it's an airmiles deal so we've narrowed it down to either Cancun or Barbados.
Cancun - seems very resort focussed and offers mainly all inclusive deals which puts me off as I like eating out at diffferent places and the one all inc holday I did was terrible (however that was Zante in 1994!)
Barbados - is my preference as it seems a bit more authentic but worried that weather maybe rainy at that time of year.
We're looking for somewhere to chill out but with something to do when we get bored which kowing us will be on day 2-3 once teh batteries are recharged.
Want to make themost of no kids, so don't want a family place
Does anyone have any experience of either destinaton and receomendations on where to stay (luxury)?
Thanks

There are some very nice places around the Yucatan peninsula but I wouldn’t choose Cancun for what you’re after. Maybe look further up the coast Rivera Maya etc Cancun is to the American what Ibiza et el are to us in the UK. Barbados is more expensive to get an equivalent standard of accom though, someone who comes on this forum has a holiday let but I can’t remember who so hopefully they’ll come along or someone can point you in their direction.
The name of the place I stayed escapes me at the minute.

Thanks - the more I think about it, the more I feel Barbados is the way forward - there seems a lot more to do / character than Cancun but also allowing time to relax as well.
