East coast daytrip this weekend
Discussion
I'm thinking about taking the kids to the seaside this weekend. I appreciate the weather won't be great but at least it'll be better than staying in Northampton!
Given the aforementioned Northampton location the east coast seems the logical choice. The thing is, I don't know it very well at all. Where's good to go? I'm not at all interested in the traditional British seaside experience (namely amusement arcades, donkey rides, knotted handkerchiefs etc), so somewhere relatively quiet but with a nice chippy for lunch would be great. We won't be getting in the water so ideally a decent sandy beach for sandcastles would be good.
Has anyone got any recommendations?

Thanks for the suggests chaps. I'll have a look at these with the wife and see what suits. Depending on how long we stay, we may be able to cover off a few of them.
I quite like the idea of Cromer. Having read quite a lot of books about the RNLI and hearing about the legendary Henry Blogg, I'm quite keen to visit the museum there. Any idea what the rest of the place is like?
