Can anyone recommend some good current bars & restaurants in Chester? My other half has booked us a weekend there for my birthday and apart from a reservation at the Sticky Walnut on the Saturday night we don't really have any other plans other than a relaxing wander around (if the weather's kind!) with a bit of shopping.

It's been a few years since we've been, so any up to date suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thank you very much everyone! There’s quite a bit to go at there and should be fun. Your help is very much appreciated.

Just thought I’d update this.

We had a great weekend in Chester and really liked the following:

Prohibition. We got a seat at the bar after a bit of a search finding the place initially. Fantastic cocktails.
The Disguisery. Another fab bar that was recommended.
Paysan. Loved it in there as it had a great buzz on both floors.
The Bear & Billet was a good place to watch a bit of the rugby.

We ate in the Grosvenor on the Friday night but we weren’t very impressed to be honest. The food was (just) ok but the place seems to be filled with chavs trying to show how much money they might have. It was also pretty disorganised and I can’t believe it’s actually a 5 star hotel as it’s pretty tired. A shame because I’ve always fancied going there but I’d never stay based on this experience unfortunately.

We did have great meals at both Artezzan and Porta.

The new Chester food market was also a really great place for a wander around and a nibble.

Thanks again for all of the recommendations.
