Christmas London Visit

What is the best things to do on a Visit? We don't live far, but never go into London. But figured it'd be nice to see the lights and do some shopping.

We'll be going in on a Friday, hopefully it'll be a little quieter. What are the best things to try and do/visit that will get us into the Christmas mood?

Best lights to visit?
We may take in the theatre in the evening after some food. Suggestions?

Thinking about The Snowman for evening entertainment. Then a meal after.

Any suggestions for a good place to eat down Oxford st or Regents street? Would be nice to sit with the lights all on outside.
