On holiday at the moment, no activities today so sat round the pool all day, is there anything more dull and uncomfortable?

Yep, I couldn't do it.
After about 2 mins, I'd just get up and walk off to find something to do.

I guess everyone else is fixated on looking a slightly darker skintone for the next month and just power through the boredom.

I just can't do it. Even if I can sit for an hour, it'll be under a brolly to keep cool. Normally though i get the hump after about 20 minutes and go get in the sea.

Not for me, I get fidgety after about 2 minutes, hot and bothered, so have to swim or sit in shade.

The wife literally cooks herself.

I hate it.

If I'm forced to spend a day "relaxing" by sunbathing then you will find me firmly fixed under a sun shade of some description, preferably at a table so at least I can read or type on my iPad or something.

After about 45 minutes, boredom will reach extreme levels and I will have to go for a wander about, usually to obtain more drinks.

My girlfriend likes sunbathing so 'hot holidays' are usually a compromise of being somewhere where there is plenty to see and do including hiring a car and visiting places, combined with a token gesture of a couple of days of boredom, I mean sunbathing.

Has there ever been a more pointless activity in the history of mankind?

No. I really don't think there has.

Well if you work hard and have a busy life, in this typical
Cold and wet country isn't it nice to just sit in the warm and switch off. Nlt
Think about life. Enjoy yourself like a holiday?

It's not for everyone but for 4 weeks a year it's a nice change. I go on holiday every January just to get away and think of nothing.

I find it very hard to do nothing, I get fidgety, bored and restless very quickly so going on holiday last year to Sardinia; wifes choice and our first ever mainly beach holiday, had me concerned.

We weren't intending on spending the whole 10 days on the beach, maybe 2 or 3 days tops, but I was getting concerned about how I was going to be on those 2 or 3 times, sat on the beach doing nothing.

Well I have to say I bloody loved it, I just went into this relaxing zone, soaking up the atmosphere, sounds, smells and sun, I would do it again.

One word of advice; when applying suncream, don't miss a 4" strip on the side of your torso from the waistband of your shorts up to your armpit, I have darker than your average Brit skin and tend not to burn, I was in agony for days and that missed bit was bright red, a year later there is still a very visible mark on my body.

You should take a heavy towel to cover it, and stop ogling all the young women.

I don't understand how people can spend hundreds of pounds on a holiday to a lovely destination and spend the entire week sat by the pool reading a book...

I don't get this either, usually coupled with hanging around English themed bars.

I love it - whether by the beach or by the pool but I do enjoy 'doing things' too.

Sunbathe after breakfast for a few hours, alternating with dips in the pool. I go on holiday to chill out and do as little as possible so lying under the sun is lovely for me.

I hate sitting on a beach, drives me nuts. I live right on the beach here in Guernsey and have set foot on it once in 15 years, to push my boat off it's trailer.

Worked in the Superyacht industry for 20 years, visiting the most exotic beaches on the planet.

Bovvered? Not in the least.

Flying to Italy on Sunday and my OH loves to lie in the Sun but I hate it. I get hot and grumpy so best not do it.

We have to work hard to make sure we both get some of what we enjoy.

I will be spending most of the time diving in the sea with my son whilst my OH cooks himself.

Your doing it wrong! Let the ladies sunbath, then walk down the beach and stare at the nice young topless ladies and dream smile
