Got up around 8:30 this morning and just had this urge to play some metal on the guitar.

So plugged the Les paul in at around 9, and started jamming smile

Around 9:30 i hear some pounding on my front door, of which was a fat lady in a dressing gown (not a good sight!)
Telling me its too early to be making these "noises", and that the squeals (i assume she means "Harmonics") are upsetting her dogs and woke them up.

She is from the house behind - around 10 Metres away, its not like its an attached house.

So PH is 9am too early in the morning to enjoy a bit of guitar??

Couldn’t you plug a headset in too and keep it to yourself?

I would say that if she was able to hear it from that distance then Yes, a bit ignorant on your behalf.
Sorry.

On a Sunday? 9am is too early IMO.

Anyway you now know it’s a problem for at least one of your neighbours so you’re at a crossroads- avoid playing early on a Sunday or enter into an ongoing battle of will with dressing gown lady such that she might darken your door on a weekly basis.

Also, 1/4” headphone jack on your amplifier?

Bit antisocial 9am on a Sunday morning.

Perhaps if you don’t want to use a headset, shut your doors and windows for a little bit?

I wouldn’t have done it but then I like my neighbours.

Im not sure there is a way to use headphones, the only output on the head is for either 8 or 16 ohm speakers.
I think if i plugged some headphones into this it would blow them up!!

It was only a 15W Head into a single 4X12 speaker cabinet, so not like playing through a 100W head!

I didn't think it was "that" loud, but i am a bit mutton, however the amp needs to be at a decent volume to get the right sound.

TBH there was a couple of skylights open, which i should have probably closed.
But didn't think it would really travel that far.

Yep.

Antisocial if you are causing a nuisance at any time of day. Early on a Sunday morning is full on Ahole.

At without amp, Volume control, Headphones.

A Sunday morning is the only time some people get for a lie in.... they won't want to hear your stranglings and scratchings at that hour... so yes, definitely antisocial.

I'm a guitarist too, so I do appreciate where you're coming from on needing volume to get the right tone, but I wouldn't be playing at 0900 on a Sunday. I usually wait until about 1100 before generating any kind of volume on a Sunday, be that guitar or gaming or faffing around in the garage.

Not the end of the world though, and at least she popped round for a chat to sort it directly.

Yes.

Especially given this:

Doesn't matter what time, if it's loud enough to disturb a neighbour it's too loud.

Well you were wrong, evidently, as she could hear it. Tbh regardless of the time of day, if it's annoying your neighbours it's a bit antisocial.

If your neighbour can hear you then it’s thoughtless, inconsiderate and antisocial at any time of the day. Have some respect. Use headphones or turn it down.

Other people don’t want to hear you indulging in your hobby in their own homes.
Agreed.

Or buy a house with no neighbours and be as loud as you like.

It's anti social to make that much noise at any time of day if there are people living in earshot.

"Needs that much volume"? Tough. People need some peace and quiet, get headphones or make the noise somewhere people can't hear.
