I'll just read that again...
Discussion
I've just been reading our local free paper which is delivered every week.
There is an article about a suspicious fire which has destroyed a large building in the centre of town. The building was empty and due to be converted to a Tesco.
The quote from the D.I in charge made me raise my eyebrows. Apparently he is looking for, and I quote;
"I am particularly keen to speak to a group of between three to five youths of mixed gender, possibly in their twenties who were seen exiting the building about 5pm."
I wish D.I. David McLaren good luck in his endevours and I hope his detection skills far surpass his language skills.
Maybe my town has a previously undetected population of ladyboys.

I know of the building that Tunku speaks of.
I immediately thought it would probably be a 'job' too, but apparently there's already a demolition order on the premises.
I think they've caught them now anyway according to the 'Press'
Where about are you Tunku? I live in one of the coastal villages to the West.
Never known there to be a large transgender population, but I seldom get into town these days so much may have changed.

Isn't it amazing how often older buildings which are due to be converted into apartments, shops or whatever burn down ? Surely it's nothing to do with the developers preferring a new build. Surely .....

Funnily enough, near me there is an old grain depot that is due to be converted into flats. The council has said no mods to exterior unless the building is unsafe.![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)
Now the building was perfectly stable and safe when the developers put there boards up - suddenly the walls have started falling in..
Odd that eh?

Hmm, just been a row of newly removated terraces houses gone up in Burnley, totally brought the entire row down and caused damage to the house across the road, seems they think that was down to a couple of 10 year olds!![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)

It was burned to the ground by some yoofs a few months later. Strange coincidence that is.
Im pretty sure they arrested a few folk. Supposed to be in court this week.
I dont know if you were around, but i live fairly close to it, took a wander up the road to see what all the fuss was about. It would appear the whole town was out to watch the it burn to the ground!
Next monrning there is all this talk about how Tesco had paid someone to do it because they hadnt go permission to knock the building down etc etc.
Im kind of suprised though because there are CCTV camera set up outside the place, you would think people had the common sense not to do it on front of a camera. Hense why they have now been caught.
Used to see the wee peasants standing outside the place all the time.

Near where I grew up there was an avenue of very tall old trees. Although they were at least a hundred and fifty years older than the oldest resident, some residents wanted them pulled down. So why move there? Anyway, they approached the council and the council said the trees could only come down if they were in danger of falling down, for example if the trees became sick. After a few months the residents approached the council to report that some of the trees had developed a mysterious illness and would the council please come and chop them down. When the council replied that they would be round soon to chop them down, and the residents would receive the bill, the trees all mysteriously got better.![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)
I've noticed the Police have a tendency to so this i.e. use 'big' or 'formal' words in a bid to try and appear more intelligent, but often do so in the wrong context. Watch any of these 'Police reality' shows (Road Wars, Traffic Cops, Police-Camera-Action etc) and you will see numerous examples...

Many years ago before fly on the wall documentaries were the norm I remember seeing a programme where a camera crew accompanied a sergeant and a PC on a shout in a Transit. Both were obviously not comfortable with the film crew being there as their body language was stiff and stilted. Baulked by traffic the none too bright PC turned theatrically to his colleague and in a voice obviously meant for the camera asked "Shall I make progression Sarge?". That scene has replayed itself thousands of times in my head over the years popping up almost every time I see a car 'making progression' ![biglaugh](/inc/images/biglaugh.gif)
