I don't get things like this, what useful purpose does that serve or is your brother a Klingon warrior?

As promised, and no I'm not nuts just aa collector.

Non lockers

Lock backs

Lock liners

Single bevel fixed

Yes, they all live in an old type setters chest.

Fixed blades, all these are hand made, some of them are hand finished by me. Yes that is a stone age axe head.

And one I made up for filleting trout.

Oh, and that is no where near them all, neither is this!

I did say this was my kind of thread! smile

The same purpose as all of his others, for display.

Wow, that is lovely.

Some of the custom built knives are really amazing pieces of design and workmanship. The amount of attention to detail and thought that has went into them is incredible.

I think that particular one is a replica of a weapon/knife/thing from Final Fantasy (or some other similar game)

I carry this round with me, usually concealed down my sock, just in case.

I've got one of these, it came with my tool box:

I've tried sharpening it, with no success. Is it because the knife is rubbish or is it user error? paperbag
I'd say user error, you can sharpen anything!

That video doesn't prove your point, its about being able to sharpen a knife without a whetstone.

The only knife I use on any regular basis is my Whitby Skippers lock knife. It in my pocket when sailing without fail:

I like the marlin-spike and shackle-key bits.

The marlin spike is very useful, and it does actually lock. The shackle key is a bit hit and miss though. It does work, but there are a lot of situations where you can't get it in the right place to undo the pin and it is a bit awkward with smaller shackles. I normally keep a pair of pliers to hand for undoing them as it's quicker.
