They were pretty open to it to all the honkies in work - they were openly eating in there, but pretending to all the muslims at home/mosque they were fasting. All a bit bizarre really...
To me you're either religious or you aren't. I think anyone who believes in all that st is a complete retard but at least I'd respect them for sticking to it. No respect at all for someone who's pretending

Was reading that if you can not fast because of medical reasons you have to pay somthing like £280.
No, if you cannot fast you donate the cost of breaking a fast for the whole month to the poor/needy Although £280 may well be right

Do wonder whatever happened to Officer Tanveer Hussain who had been fasting for sixteen hours (claim of 16hrs on a website, not verified). And was unable to carry out his job

I might get in on this actually, religion is a load of twaddle but I have nothing but respect for the Islamers who can pull it off. I work with a few and every year I'm impressed by their dedication to it.
Seems like lunacy to me, starving yourself in the name of an imaginary friend. Calletrece said:
Said I'd do it honourarily last year but didn't manage it.

My Uncle is in Dubai next week as part of his honeymoon. Is there anything he needs to be aware of?
It's currently 41C, humid as hell and Ramadan. Not the best time to be visiting Dubai. A lot of restaurants do offer takeaway during daytime hours, and we found the likes of Subway were generally open near the hotel - our routine had been pool in the morning, lunch in our room before we went out for the afternoon, and dinner around sunset. Restaurants can be busy around that time for obvious reasons.
A lot of hotels do Ramadan meals after sunset, the one at the Sheraton in Jumerah Beach is pretty popular and well worth it.
Some odd interpretation of fasting. A friend I worked with in a hot car workshop got something in his eye at work. Tears were streaming down his face but he wouldn't wash his eye out with water incase any went in his mouth. It was awful to watch and if I was the workshop controller I would've sent him home.
