Madness that it gets cold at the wintertime but crazily heats up again afterwards at that magical time they call summer...

High pressure continues to dominate for foreseeable future. Misty and murky, not much rain. Low pressure in the Atlantic might occasionally affect NI/W Scotland more.
Is this because cold air and low pressure is shoving the Jetstream down around Western America, meaning it bounces up above us for now?

The south side of the Jetstream is the best side?

Jet stream is always buckling. One of the problems for us is the polar vortex normally sits in the NW Atlantic and helps drive it directly at us.

North of jet stream is normally cooler air. South is warmer. In its path means low pressure conveyor belt. Low pressure tends to get more severe when it's caught in the jet stream.

Following on from the recent flash floods in Majorca, areas of the South of France are experiencing devastating floods at the moment.

Cold blast looking increasingly likely for next weekend, with the high pressure lying to our west on a north/south axis - a northerly wind in the offing.

I'm off to Aberdeenshire tomorrow, in the hunt for cold wink

And BSE ?

Been utterly gorgeous here in Cheshire the last few days, radiant Autumn with the last tantalising dying embers of summer, minimally poetic way of saying its been nice and hasnt pissed down like normal.

As currently forecast, there could be widespread snow in northern parts of Scotland including Aberdeenshire next weekend.

Snow also forecast in the SE (mainly Kent) next Monday.

Things will change though.

Ironically I’m flying out of Aberdeenshire on Friday for a weekend in Southern Ireland.

I wouldn't bother yet. It's currently 15°C which is warmer than our summer normally (ignoring the aberration that was this year)

Next weekend you say scratchchin Probably time to get the winters out of storage then
