Occasionally irascible and pompous, sure, but a chap with interesting cars and a willingness to offer proper legal advice, which upset the legal-Walts and the Melts. Pity he went.
Had a good sense of humour too, I subjected him to a bit of gentle piss taking in the Biker Banter forum after he posted a picture of himself and he took the joke in the spirit intended and laughed at himself too.Olivera said:
It's sad that Welshbeef is gone, even though he appeared to be 'on the sauce' with alarming regularity, and his alleged powerfully built finance director persona might have been a bit walter mitty.
I miss him as well. We had common ground regarding the E90 330d, plus he always seem to enjoy talking to me about the Cerbera too. AW111 said:
I miss MaxTorque on the technical threads. Very experienced and knowledgeable, worked with some big name companies, and could write clearly on technical matters.
Unfortunately got into several arguments with opinionated but ignorant posters, especially on the subject of EV's.
I think he just got sick of it all.
I used to like pulling his leg about his i3 and he always took it well I thought. He definitely knew his stuff as you say. Unfortunately got into several arguments with opinionated but ignorant posters, especially on the subject of EV's.

He could start an argument in an empty room though, which seems to be similar to all of the now-disappeared posters mentioned above.
Interesting point, there’s a very well respected member on here for their knowledge and sharing their knowledge of their chosen mastermind question. But whenever I see them posting outside of that subsection it’s generally rubbish or picking an internet fight.Countdown said:

We have an IT Manager who very few people in the Company like. He has almost no interpersonal skills and hates communicating with people either in person, on the telephone, or on Teams (in fact he just hates people). Weirdly his partner is one of the nicest most pleasant people you could ever meet. Anyway he knows his stuff inside out and upside down. He's on £60k and is significantly underpaid (IMO) but fortunately for us he can't be bothered looking elsewhere.
TL:DR - very smart people get irritated by thickos who think they know better.

Agree - Breadvan was one of those experts that really benefited PH - a bit like Equus in fact. Many like him have left which is a pity. Countdown said:

This bit I DO agree with and understand - not that I'm very smart but I'm pretty much an expert in my field (road design and maintenance). Whenever I've had to crack out some information, there is always some wally telling me I'm wrong, an idiot etc, because he's been driving a car for a few years so therefore knows best. It is frustrating and does make you think "what's the point?". ecsrobin said:

Same as Toomany2cv’s. He disappeared after posting 100 times a day. Banned?
He’s still about but just seems to spend his days moaning about his wifi in the tech forums. Gassing Station | The Lounge | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
