rofl, yeah i frequent bodybuilding.com, he posts about his arms every day.

Anyway, my vote goes to AK47. Utterly brilliant, nice powerful calibre, simple, and even a child can use it (ok maybe thats not a good thing in some countries smile). Makes a great distinct noise too, looks pretty cool too.

Apparently AK47s are not so nice when someone sticks the barrel of one into your mouth - as happened to my cousin when he bumped into some FARC guerillas near the Colombian border not so long ago. eek

The a2 is a pretty good rifle. Agreed that the original version was pretty shocking but over a decade later and however many millions of pounds upgrading them all they've finally turned into a decent bit of kit.

Brilliant. Loved letting rip with those on the range.

The bang-stick SLR:

Bloody heavy thing to carry around all day (or night) especially in conjunction with 4 x 20 round mags in your webbing. Hilariously over-powered for the job we were doing, but still got a soft spot for them.

The a bit rubbish Sterling SMG

So rubbish, they only gave them to the dog-handlers.

The very-last-ditch Browning Hi-Power

I was told it would probably be more effective to just throw the pistol at the enemy.

You ever had the misfortune to use a cadet version? About as much use as the Mk 1 cricket bat. Kind of like the Browning pistol, but with more bits to clean and more likely for some kid to ground the barrel.

The one on the left is the original "wogstopper" - 577/450 as used in the Martini-Henry. The one next to it is the normal 303.
That would make a rather large hole - both sides. Are such non-FMJ rounds illegal these days - would it be classed as a squash head or "Dum Dum" round?
They are quite legal, it's not going fast enough to do any fancy things when it hits something.

Lead is still used in cap and ball pistols. Also lead bullets are used in normal rifles on short or restricted ranges. They are called "squib-loads", (or tarts' loads).

The AR-15 Armalite

One of the only guns to have a song written about it:

And it's down along the Falls Road that's where I long to be

Lying in the dark with the Provo company

A comrade on me left aye another one on me right

And a clip of ammunition for me little Armalite!

I was stopped by a soldier he said "you are a swine"

He hit me with his rifle and he kicked me in the groin

I begged and I pleaded oh my manners were polite

but all the time I'm thinking of me little Armalite!

Chorus:

And it's down in the Bogside that's were I long to be

Lying in the dark with the Provo company

A comrade on me left and another one on me right

And a clip of ammunition for me little Armalite!

Well this brave RUC man came marching up our street

600 British soldiers he had lined up at his feet,

Come out ya cowardly Fenians come on out and fight

he cried I'm only joking, when he heard the Armalite!

Chorus:

And its down in Bellaghy that's where i long to be

lying in the dark with the provo company

a comrade on me left and another one on me right

and a clip of ammunition for me little Armalite!

Well the army came to visit me 'twas in the early hours

With saracens and saladins and ferret armoured cars,

They thought they had me cornered but I gave them all a fright

With the armourpiercing bullets of me little Armalite
