Now, normally you might understand. But our small village is an exception in that we actually have a huge Piano shop!!!! They have been there for years, and in the past 2 years or so have expanded and taken over 2 other shops; so now have 3 shopfronts in total. And you can't miss them, as they're right in the centre of the village!
And if there's any doubt ...... they are "a family owned business and are proud suppliers of a huge range of second-hand pianos, both grand and upright"
What's more interesting is that no-one has responded at all (unusual). I'm tempted to reply with what's wrong with the local piano shop; or how about the 9 that are advertised on FB marketplace within a 5k radius, starting from £18.
I can't figure this one out. Pure laziness? Or hoping for a freebie?

Almost like The Putter. Which if you haven't seen it is a beautiful short film about Sheffield scissor making.
Absolutely bloody lovely.Unfortunately, seemingly impossible to buy from them. The kitchen scissors will be dispatched possibly 'within 20 weeks', and the general purpose scissors aren't even available to back order.

Well after someone posted a pic moaning that an emergency ambulance on a call was blocking his way on our local bad parking thread, spotted this post from what must be a sovcit. Had to chuckle at the glaring irony

This has been doing the rounds for years as people have decided that it will somehow negate the FB terms and conditions that they agreed to when they signed up. It goes away, then it comes back for a bit. I doubt the Ts and Cs actually say what these people think they say, anyway.![](https://thumbsnap.com/sc/1zrPu3j3.jpg)

It’s a slightly sad story really - business was slipping away like so many similar businesses, they hired someone to make that film and got two years worth of orders literally overnight. The stress of dealing with that, his business debts, illness amongst the tiny staff, and later a kickstarter campaign that was also far more successful than expected led to the then-owner of the business (a descendant of Ernest Wright) to take his own life. It’s back on its feet now but struggling to cope still - declaring long lead times is, I suppose, as valid a way as any to manage demand for a deliberately old-fashioned business like this.

Blimey.
That's such an incredibly sad story.
I'm now torn between thinking an order with an expectation they'll arrive "someday", or indeed not placing an order at all could both be the most supportive option.
That is horrendously sad. That's such an incredibly sad story.

It's lovely how a good cameraman and editor can bring a production process to life.
I had a video commissioned for my factory. This has reminded me to get it redone this year and I'll focus more on the assembly skill and the people.

I would post a link to the shop and say there is a huge shop in the village and then make a note of the fb marketplace but leave out the "what is wrong with’ as the passive aggression starts an argument…just being helpful points out how thick they are without having to say it (IMO)![](https://thumbsnap.com/sc/iJJWqgmf.png)

Some people use Facebook like their own special google device.

One of my local groups had someone post... "Looking for a double bed and mattress asap if anyone can help. Yes ive tried market place. Nothing. Cheers"
I had a look on marketplace and at least half a dozen within 10mile radius so guess the above translates to wanting it for free
If the double bed ads you've seen include a picture of a provocatively posed woman, then the ads aren''t really for beds.I had a look on marketplace and at least half a dozen within 10mile radius so guess the above translates to wanting it for free

Fortunately the decision is taken away from me as I know the kids or my wife would abuse them and it would annoy me too much! It's bad enough when they find the "good" pair of Fiskars I try to keep hidden.

That’s because it’s two blokes working on century-old machinery, whilst contending with the demand generated by a viral video (which is absolutely excellent - totally worth 5 minutes of anyone’s time to watch).

Bit torn on ordering now but “buy once” is always a good way to go and support is support.

Sorry for the slight deviation.
It's a sad story; thank you for the information.
I've just ordered a Turton as I can remember my Grandmother having similar scissors. They'll turn up when they turn up. They'll be a lovely surprise when they do turn up.

I live on a brownfield new build estate on the edge of a village. The place borders farmland and woodland.
One poster came in complaining about all the black flies at harvest time. She asked if council pest control should be contacted or if someone could “have a word” with the farmer.
Thankfully she got a robust response suggesting she move to a city.
Another poster saying she was worried that nettles in the woods would sting her little children. I did respond suggesting nettle stings were all part of being a kid. She responded suggesting someone should spray them with weed killer. That fired up the local organic green element of the page who rounded (Roundup) on her.
I am now the local knight to the rescue for the local MILFs, much to my wife’s amusement. It’s after I helped a local lady out by lending her a tyre compressor. Now I’m the suggested go-to whenever some hapless driver gets a TPMS warning. Honestly, it’s like the opening scenes of a cheap porn movie here. The husband is always away for the week. The kids have just been dropped off at school, and I rock up with my trusty compressor.
