Afternoon all!

I trust all Mother's have had a pleasant day?

Now, I have been searching through the Pequod Hall Library for the Instruction Manual 'What To Do in the Event of a Meteor Strike' and came across this wonder of motoring history, steam driven, and something Battert could have been involved with?

For the life of me, I can't figure out the manufacturer but note that it's left hand drive, so I wonder if it's of French origin?

Any ideas??

Foden? Very popular with breweries and suchlike in the 20s, I believe.

Well, we've been to Mundesley, jolly pleasant it was too.

I've no idea where that snap was taken. Given that it's Bobbers and the amount of boats in the background, somewhere around The Solent maybe?

Thanks Witters. Not being an aficionado of steam driven lorries, I wrongly guessed it was of foreign manufacture!

Joy of joys, I had to deliver a 1960s V8 Mustang.

It was woeful. Simple to the point of being crude.

I was so disappointed.

It does indeed look as though Witters is spot on there. Here's a pic of one that looks remarkably similar:

It's listed as a 'Foden 5 ton overtype steam wagon'.

Indeed!

A bit of history.... (and interestingly, there were 'almost' 160 manufacturers of steam wagons back in the day!)

The French would have been driving RHD vehicles during those days. They switched to LHD much later on.

I was thinking Fowler or Ransome as possibilities, but Foden is a good shout.

Interesting?

It was my understanding the reason we drive on the left (with a steering wheel on the right) is due to the Cavalry carrying their swords on the left hip and, when drawn, the sword is brandished in their right hand? Thus....

Brew dog stout.

Greene King? Philistines.

It’s ok btw, as a Guinness man I’d give it 7 or 8 out of ten. Tasty but not my preference.
