There is nothing unique on a car though, so have to mark it somehow

The following popped up on my local FB group and it got me thinking....how rare/common is it for things like this to happen nowadays?

I guess in a panic the driver wouldn't think to use the handbrake, I guess with no more information on what car etc it will leave us wondering

At the risk of a parrot, the crayon mark was put on there by the tyre fitter to mark the heavy or light end to help while balancing it. The general public is too well furnished with morons and there should be an IQ test before being allowed unmoderated posting rights on social media.

I had a chap contact me on FB yesterday evening about an engine I have for sale.

The message was "can I have a mobile number?"

I have 2 things for sale so asked which he was enquiring about....he replied that it was the engine.

I provided the number and he asked if it would be ok to call me in 20 mins - he was local to me and interested to buy. I said 20 mins was fine....no further contact at all from the "buyer"

I had a friend request from someone I had not seen in 30 yrs! I accepted and messaged him to say hello. Not a single response.

I'd guess at "used screen washers near a person".
I read it as driving through puddles splashing people.
I read it as Officer Crabtree from 'Allo 'Allo!

Most tyres have a coloured spot moulded into them to indicate where the tyre/valve relationship is, for balancing purposes. No need for chalk.

It's probably a parking attendant doing wanders. Mark it with an x at a set point on the tyre. If it's still there when they come back after the time period has expired it's due a ticket.

This is how they check cars have been parked up for periods of time in the US.

I get people from school add me on Instagram somewhat regularly (I'm only friends with a couple of people from school that I actually keep in touch with, so I guess the others saw me on their follower list or in their 'likes' or something)...

I give them a week or so to make contact after accepting the request before removing them from my list laugh

We haven't spoke in over a decade so unless they're wanting to have a chat and catch up, then they're obviously just being nosy, and I don't want every Tom, Dick & Harry trawling through my stuff (which is set to private for anyone I don't personally know)

That's what they want you to think.
The fitters are in on it and if you get a green dot it means they've flagged it for stealing.

They put a mark on my tyre recently when I had a puncture repair to mark where abouts the nail was.

Might not be anything serious, but best mention it on Facebook in case they're trying to steal my dog/see where I live/etc.

Correct - I assumed everyone would know that about the tyre fitter.

Parking wardens sometimes mark tyres to see if you have fed the meter
