What now? Is life to become a shadow of its former self?

Go steady on that commute, you don't want to get caught speeding!!

I have an addiction to welsh butter - very creamy, very salty, although I generally only cook somethings with it.

Oh and Bobbers, ref he who must be shamed, you're entirely right, and thats my view... but Mrs B and the grandkids....
Onwards, working in a very hot room today labelling

It must be really hard to not react the way you feel, we don't have kids, neither of us wanted them, so it's easy for me to take a more hardline view, when grandkids enter the equation it's a different matter, I see it with the guys I work with, sorry its affecting your lives, hopefully your daughter will be brave enough to kick him into touch one day.

Marmite's good fer yer, tis made from all th goode stuff left over from brewing beer - a yeast extract ( more loike a yeast infection; according to a friend of Mrs paua)
Morneve folks.

Byker, I may be able to arrange a position for your SIL - on a fishing boat. He'll be away 6 (six) weeks at a time. Out of sight of land, like.

Weather remains unseasonably unpleasant - ferries ave been cancelled due to high seas. There be snow t' low levels, outside th square window.

Yeah, we're aving th worstestest summer in memory. Third consecutive year of La Nina with warming ocean currents bringing crap weather. We've had (albeit temporary) snow on th hills right through hi summer. Had th log-burner running yesterday & today.

Good morning all.

A bit more painting outside walls first off. I've finished the front of the house now.
Neighbours Chris and Bev arrived last night from Blighty, loaded with paint for me and uk produce for Madame M.

A new diet I'm eating is making me lose weight and I'm dangerously getting near 13 stone.
No spuds, no bread, no booze. What a pain in the arris!

Glenrobbo I think you should patent that elbow test of yours a bit quick like.

Thanks Bomma.

Fout.
yikes 13 stones??? Steady on, Magoo old chap, at that rate, there'll be nothing left of you by Easter!

For the good of all, and to promote well-being and mindfulness to all, I decided long ago that the Elbow Test should be available for free to all in the open public domain.
Perhaps it shall be my legacy for long after my placement in a MDF presentation box with faux brass 'andles and subsequent disposal at the Corporation Incineration Depot.

Far into the future, people may think of my small but valuable contribution to society, and say "Whose stupid idea was that then?" scratchchin

Gude Moaneve my little trivial dingbats! wavey
Elbow Test this morning was negative, but getting rather hackneyed.
Perhaps I should consider moving to Walthamstow?
Weather is nothing to shout about, but not worth shouting at, either. There are some centipedes.

Dicky, I am truly impressed by the amazing speed of your referral for an Angiegram*. Things are so much faster down Trivbury way.

Here Oop Norf, by the time I get to experience the pleasure of my arteries getting a good rodding with a specialist dynorod, it will have taken over 23 weeks from my myocardial infarction to getting my place on the butcher's block.
It' will be no use trying to listen out for me on the 21st April: they say that in Wythenshawe, nobody can hear you scream...

* I wonder if Angie will be wearing a skimpy nurse's outfit?

The nurse's outfit was worn out. Worn out one evening by Reg the hospital porter. It needs refurbishing but the Trivshire Health Authority say there is no budget. Do you think we could dip into the Reptile Fund or the Christmas Club? Covert or overt are the only questions.

In the meantime there is a choice of Frankenstein's monster or Agatha Trunchbull. Perhaps we should establish a separate budget just for the dressing up box.

Worn out? yikes

Oh dear wot a shame never mind. frown

scratchchin Perhaps Matron could lend her outfit to Bobbers when your turn comes, Dicky.

I think there should be a crowdfunding effort to help with restocking the dressing-up box. Or at least an application to the National Lottery Arts Foundation Fund to finance the purchase of a new card of ½" elastic from that nice Miss Millington at Trivton Haberdasher's.

My favourite outfit in that box has always been the extra-wide-waisted bouncy trousers with the sewn-in hula hoop waistband and elasticated braces, the dress shirt, silk tie and tuxedo, because I think my rôle as "The Clownfather" was one of my finest performances.
My slicked-down hair with the centre parting, my thin moustache and a hint of menace in my steely gaze were a sight to curdle the blood of your average patsy.

If only somebody had been brave enough to capture that with a photograph.
But I suppose they were all afraid of waking up with a severed horse's head and a balloon animal the next morning...

My understanding of an angiogram is an investigative procedure involving poking a tube up your arteries to look for obstructions. I am not sure if any remedial work (angioplasty?) is routinely carried out at the same time, or done as a separate procedure at a later date.
I opted instead for a (private) CT scan, which is non invasive, which fortunately showed that 2 of my main arteries were ok and the third slightly obstructed, so I got away with treatment by medication only. Job done and has served me well so far!

The info the hospital has sent me covers both. It's a case of "whilst we're in there, we might as well carry out any remedial work necessary, including placement of stents if required."
This is carried out using just a local anaesthetic at the point of entry. There are no nerves inside the circulatory system.
Tha angiogram consists of a catheter inserted into the circulatory system via an entry point in the crook of the elbow or the groin, and up inside the blood vessel to the heart, then a cannula? directing a dye by which the X-ray camera video can pick up any abnormalities.
Angioplasty: If any narrowing of arteries is found, then a small "balloon" can be introduced and inflated to enlarge the vessel. Sometimes the vessel will remain open and stable, but if it doesn't, this can then be followed by placing a stainless steel expandable mesh "stent" in each area of narrowing.
I have to present myself at 07:30 hrs for a morning procedure as a day case patient, but I have to take overnight requisites just in case. Somebody will be required to pick me up when I am discharged.
No driving for a week afterwards. frown

Witters, may I ask what was the cost of the private CT scan?

Good aftermorn everybody!

Because it's no longer morneve, which for me passed slowly in the reception area of my local VW dealer while the mighty Up(!) was receiving its annual MOT.

When I booked the MOT via on-line for 8am, I mistakenly thought that 8am would be the time at which the car would be ushered into the workshop, various tests completed, and I'd be home before 10. Then, yesterday afternoon, a phone call to confirm my appointment happened, during which it appeared to be assumed that I would drop the car off, and leave it with them all day. There was no mention of this during the on-line booking process, which I pointed out to "my" "service advisor", and by this time all of their courtesy cars were allocated. The area around the dealer is a haven for lovers of out-of-town warehouse shopping experiences, but not for me, so he eventually consented to have the car ready before mid-day, and I downloaded a couple of copies of Autocar and Car on to my iPad, as the weather was miserable and wet, and I didn't fancy being outside in it.

Now, the reception area is just inside the main showroom entrance doors, which open and close without human assistance, but at their own pace, and the weather outside was chilly and damp. Very chilly and damp.

So, despite the charming receptionist lady making a few cups of hot brown for me, this morning has been a fairly miserable experience, the only redeeming feature being an MOT pass, with no advisories. I came straight home with the heater on full blast, and have just had a warming bowl of soup.

I might listen to something by Lou Reed or Morrissey to cheer myself up.
