No idea why that came into my head.

I've been to see a specialist this morning whose booked me in for some surgery at the end of April. I don't do hospitals but he's assured me they'll be a General Anastasia taking part and then I'll have at least a couple of weeks to post continuous bks on PH.

Have I mentioned I really don't like hospitals, have a phobia of needles. I wasn't feeling well as he was describing the procedure, how big a cut, then went full US with all the possible complications.

I know this is minor compared to some of you lot, but I don't do ill. I don't like getting old frown

I asked an attractive young American girl if she liked Dickens...

She said she didn't know, she'd never been to one.

True story. biggrin

Gud moaneve, everybooby!

What started off grey, damp and unpromising has become bright, chilly but inviting, so I'll venture forth shortly to enjoy it.

A good day yesterday. went to watch my son's indoor net session, made a mental note not to volunteer to put myself in harm's way when he's bowling.

My trip to see him was also an opportunity to have a bit of a drive, as I'm still exploring the capabilities of my new Golf, which keeps surprising me, in a good way. The sun was shining, and it would have been rude not to.

The weather for the week ahead is described as "changeable", and we all know that to be weather forecaster code for "bloody awful", with a mixture of coldness and wetness, often simultaneously.

So I'm orf out while there's a brief sunny interlude.

Laters,...

Aha! I get it now!
My perception of the scale of it was way off: I thought it resembled the entrance to an ancient Lycian burial tomb, carved out of the living rock of the cliff face, not something the size of my thumbnail.

Have a great getaway, Bobbers. thumbup Where are you off to?

IOTN, It's still wet here oop norf, but Daughter #1 is dropping off Robbopoppetlet shortly for a couple of hours, so she will brighten up our day. love
The little 'un is currently off school recovering from chicken pox.
We won't do anything rash today. smile

Another cuppa, Dicky?

Circumcision is only a minor op, Byker, and anyway, it's only a tiny prick. Nothing to worry about. wink

Seriously, I hope your surgery is nothing major, and you make a speedy and full recovery, free of complications. All the best, mate.

Let us know if you want us to peel some grapes for you. thumbup

Morning All.
Charlie, the Memsahib's pussycat has developed an unhealthy fixation on my boots. He is playing with them on the downstairs landing as we speak.
Little git.
Glenners, the Law of Conservation of Energy is all very well but the Law is an Ass, as any fule kno. Entropy, that's the thing to watch for. Sneaks up on a fellow it does.
Dicky's bracket looks like a bit of a challenge. Can you borrow one of those reciprocating multitool jobbies Your Lordship? With a metal cutting blade?
Or I have a set of knackered-screw-getter-outers which rather surprised me by actually working well the only time I've had to use them. One end of the tool drills out a tapered hole in the middle of the screw head, then the other end is applied in a CCW direction and Voila!
I can't remember where I got them but I'd be happy to post them if you want to borrow them and have a go.

I'm waiting for the CoCodamol to get a decent grip then I too will be attempting a spot of carpenteering. I'm making either a pine blanket chest or some firewood. I'm not entirely certain yet.

'Snot nice out today and my workshop, mysteriously, is colder inside than being outside.
Probably entropy.

Fresh air face ventilation with the heating on:

famously introduced by the Ford Motor Co's innovative "Aeroflow" ventilation system on the Mk 1 Cortina, via intake ducting hoses that ran outside air to "eyeball" swivel outlets on either side of the dash.

TVR incorporated the idea on their 'S' models but mostly delivered dead bugs and bits of dried up leaves to the faces of occupants. Anyway, it wasn't really needed*
, as it was illegal to drive your 'S' with the roof on, unless the storm had a name, or the snow entrring the cockpit was starting to form drifts.
That's the wrong sort of drifting. nono

driving

* There was a popular modification that involved stripping out the two long "Anaconda" ducting hoses and blanking off the two holes in the bulkhead with rubber grommets ( or Bisto gravy granule carton lids, which were a perfect fit and a lot lighter. )

Silver plate, he said, lapsing into fluent Franglaise.

Gasping ici.

Your Dickens misunderstanding reminded me of a regular Muppets gag.

"Do you like Charlotte Rampling?"
"I don't know, I've never seen her rample."
