Hello bretheren, and happy new year...
I'm in Australia for a year now, so had to give up my FM temporarily. Before I left the UK, my dad gave me a flip over ring. One side has the square and compass and one side is blank. He said to wear it as much as possible over here. So my question is, would you guys wear a ring or necklace or something similar that displays you are a member, to something like a job interview? Would you look on the candidate any differently?
Thanks in advance...
No. Make sure you divest yourself of all precious metals before going in to the interview (preferably blindfolded and wearing slippers that are 3 sizes too small) I'm in Australia for a year now, so had to give up my FM temporarily. Easy tiger. Masonic jewelery to me is no problem but stick to the more obscure symbols that to the initiated is familiar. It doesn't take much to recognise the familiar.
I wear a Forget-Me-Not on most occasions, especially when suited and booted. They are unobtrisive and are recognised mainly by fellow members. If anyone asks what it is for, I tell them.
The S&C is more obvious and can attract negative reactions, but there again, that is their problem.

We've got an initiation on the 13th this month. What makes it all the more special is that it's my best friend who is joing us! As IG I get to play a part in the ceremony and my uncle who is JD and his seconder will get to play a major part too. I was asked to do the W.T's and accepted so I've been swotting up and got it nailed now so really can't wait

Does your JW not do the WTs? That's how it is in our lodge. We sometimes have other PMs doing bits and pieces of the WM's work, and, on occassion, the JW's charge, but never the tools as they're at the JW's station.I'm off to my Mark lodge this afternoon. I've only ever been to my initiation in this lodge, having spent most of last year in plaster. Trying to remember what it's all about! Had to stop and think about which was the right apron to take last night. Potential for embarrassment...significant!
Evening all,
Not sure whether this has been mentioned (a yr old!).
Sad the number of very negative views- if you look at the comments
