They do look the part. I really need a new set, but am resisting it.

"Stripes" are being worn less and less in London.

Not been for a while tbh, but they always were the norm in my lodge in Kent.

I wear mine all the time in West Kent, but never in London.

Yes, thanks. I think twice through the chair (WM-IPM-JW-SW-WM-IPM-ADC)probably helped. I'm also MEZ at the moment, and was also one of the founders of a new lodge.

I must admit, I do enjoy my Freemasonry!

Well done. I have almost finished my year in the chair, just the installation to go. So it's IPM, Tyler and then potentially secretary to follow.

Wakey wakey.

Did my first bit of proper speaking last night. 2nd degree tools.

The only speaking I've ever done where I know for a fact that ~20 people in the room know it word for word! Makes it a bit more intense!

Do you do the long version? It's a very moving piece of ritual.

Not sure! Essentially consisted of practical meanings, then symbolic, then bringing them together...

After my little holiday earlier this year, I got voted back in last night. We had a 3rd degree, god day overall. It also looks like I can join where I left off, I should've been SD this year, but the guy who's filled in for me has already been through the chair 3 times, so he's happy for me to go back in as JW next year. I really need to get reading over the summer.

We have our last meet before recess on the 13th of June, doing a 2nd, I'll be SD. I've done it all before as our SD last year didn't make too many meets, nor has he as JW this year, but that's another story... Straight into a 3rd when we come back in September, and it'll be my last 'real' work as SD before moving on. Installation isn't until December, but we've other things planned for the two meets in-between.

I've already acted as JW on one occassion this year, and it's my current seat in IL. I did the T&C in IL and got a round of applause! Though our preceptor did say I got a word wrong... I'm more than ready for it, but it has since been mooted that they might want me to skip a chair and go SW.

I don't know how I feel about that. I know our JW hasn't done anywhere near enough to justify his current seat, let alone moving up one for next year, but I had in my head that I wanted to do every office, and I'd feel cheated if I didn't get the opportunity to show off and do the T&C in normal lodge!

It's a long way off, but I need to start learning the work for SW if it's going to happen. It's all fun. smile
