This might surprise some of you, but I'm allergic to sunlight rolleyes

Normally only effects me in the Med or closer to the equator - UK and northern France it doesn't seem to erupt. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/polymorphic-light-er...

Last few weeks, it has been so dry here (East Berks) that the grass is starting to go brown.

I have a theory that East Berks / South Bucks is actually the hottest area of the UK, if not the world furious (and sadly I happen to live in it!) and the MET office should jolly well put a weather station somewhere there.

Heathrow is the nearest to me about 12 miles away with Northolt 13 miles away and they often hold yearly temp records. Get a station somewhere in the actual Thames Valley and I reckon it would be hotter!

Funnily enough, last Saturday, driving from Rickmansworth to Reading on the M25/M4, we recorded the hottest temperature around Jc6 for Sluff. It was 2 degrees higher than at the M4/M25 junction.

West Berks away from M4 is always cooler cloud9

Yes, M4 corridor from Reading to London is the highest rated locality for tornadoes, but it's a slim chance: https://www.manchester.ac.uk/discover/news/new-map...

I do also know the UK has the highest incidents of tornadoes in the world per square km. Obviously our''s are somewhat weaker than in the US!

Just phoned my Son who is at Goodwood and it is raining / drizzling there so not so good at Goodwood.
Yes, just seen Red Arrows have cancelled their display. Lovely weather here, unforecast sun!

A rather lovely weekend of weather for us near Reading, no rain and quite a lot warmer than the BBC app forecast. All weekend spent outdoors in the garden!

9 hours smoked pulled pork:

As for this week? It starts with a bit of nothing - neither high or low pressure asserting control. Although northern and western parts more likely to be affected by low, southern and eastern by high.

As we move towards the weekend, high pressure more in control - and temps start to rise again, but nothing significant.

I know this is a long shot, but what are the trends for weekend 20/21st? I'm off to Wales, and beginning to think that Gore-Tex might be required.
There's a reason those valleys are so green hehe (and I say this as someone who is half Welsh!).

In all seriousness, we can see high pressure arriving for this weekend but there are no clear signals for the far future.

Hope the likelihood of some thunder later in the week doesn't turn out to be fake news. Really fancy a hum dinger of a thunder storm or two or three. In fact just one would do nicely.
MetOffice have already released a weather warning for Thursday (northern England and Scotland) - so seems very likely.

Tonight's charts are showing a good chance of a strong high building centered over the UK - hopeful sign therefore that it could remain until your trip to Wales.

Bit of a N/S split features today - low pressure in the north, plenty of rain. Not so much effect from the low in the south, but plenty of humid heat getting dragged up from the south. High pressure for the weekend, and then we reach a crossroads by midweek next week...

Still at a crossroads next week, although edging towards a less favourable solution for summer lovers. Well, it is the start of the school holidays, right?

Not in the bin yet - but keeping a close eye on which way things swing.

The way things are shaping up, the south/SE may stay pleasantly in the low 20s.

Possible heat towards late July, normal high risk!
