That looks like one of the dozens of utterly bonkers Hundertwasser buildings - like this one in Darmstadt, Germany:

I've been in one of the apartments - inside, they're remarkably normal. Outside, every single pane of glass is a different shape.

The British Libabry. A remarkable building.

Really? Looks like any municipal swimming pool.
It's one of those buildings that you need to see as a whole, and up close. It's a shame that it was never truly finished/realised as the architect envisioned it, because it would have been fantastic; Literally. He actually designed a gigantic Ocean Liner, an allegorical take on the idea of a vessel of another kind. A vessel of knowledge if you like; that and the fact that it is next to those other two major modes of transport, the train and the car makes it more subtlety interesting as a concept for the nations (nee world) library. Clever and so very British in a slightly whimsical way.
I have seen it 'as a whole, and up close'. My wife worked there for 13 years.

Did you ever notice the ship?

Here's a better angle of the whole.

The Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw has a real "wow" factor due to it's scale, unfortunately it's sheer size masks a lot of the smaller details but it's epic.

Amazing view from the top too.

You can see what the architect wanted to do, but I think he has had to work too hard to achieve it. So it looks very over-constructed as a result.

That is lovely. I was completely unaware of it.
You could sit for hours letting your eyes follow those curves and never see the same visual response from the building twice.
They are by the same architect probably one of the most famous. Frank Gehry smile

Interesting to see how Opera house turned out, it was a massive concrete building site the last time I was in Muscat in 2009.

Always liked the royal palace:

Local to me. Blythburgh Church. May not be the most amazing of church but I do think 'wow' nearly home.
Massively steeped in history and being close to the A12 it does seem to light up in the mist of night.
Plus the black shuck story yikes

Plus 'that' building in Ipswich. With all the dregs around it, it really is a nice change.

Cragside House. This one also makes me think 'wow'. I really must go and visit one day. I remember a programme about it on BBC2 once. 1st to have electric light. Hydroelectric power and an awesome imposing sight by the looks of it.

Not read the whole thread - apols.

I live on the outskirts of Glasgow, where on of the greatest designers and architects lived and worked - Charles Rennie Macintosh, best work ~ 1920.

There are some stunning buildings near us - glasgow college of art, scotland st school, the hill house. They don't look THAT. Fantastic from outside, but from inside, where you spend most time, is just epic. Amazing use of light and space.
On a similar (geographical) note : Kelvingrove
