tampons to fill bullet holes next!
When my Gran overdid her Warfarin she used to get really bad nosebleeds. The hospital's solution was to jam fanny mice up her hooter They're also brilliant for absorbing an entire large Burger King cup of coke that I spilled into the cupholder in the car

sanitary towels are clearly too versatile...

Indeed. That was certainly taught to me when I was a BIB. I got an opportunity to try my new found skill set too when I was first at scene of a knee capping in newcastle in the 1980s.The look on the girls faces in the watching drunken crowd was quite comical when I asked if anybody was carrying a tampon. Sadly, being newcastle, all I got was blank looks and I had to resort to a tourniquet instead. So my knowledge went unused and I never got another opportunity. tampons to fill bullet holes next!
Clearly every BiB should carry one on their utility belt because the average drunken female can't be relied upon to come up with the goods in times of crisis
When i worked a Sainsburys i was a first aider. i used to stock my allocated first aid boxes with lillets and sanitary towels, i used a towel on a elderly lady that had cut her shin open badly,a surf board and medical tape worked well till the ambulance arrived. no bits of fluff that cotton wool leaves if you bandage with it.

There used to be an old trick for when soldiers had a long march with heavy bergens on their backs where they would stick sanitary towels on there shoulders to stop chaffage.
The thing that puzzles me over these sorts of stories is where the people involved get a fairly large supply of sanitary towels from? I'm guessing they aren't regular issue.Shaolin said:

This is my housemate's genius life hack.
The clingfilm that now lives permanently on the mug tree is to cover the coffee granules that he puts in the mug the night before
No more pesky morning putting a teaspoon in the jar then the cup for him, simply put the kettle on, peel off the cellophane, add water and milk, stir and hey presto, instant coffee.
Is your 'Housemate' actually your Gran, going by the teapot..?The clingfilm that now lives permanently on the mug tree is to cover the coffee granules that he puts in the mug the night before

If he puts milk in the cup, and leaves the cup in the fridge overnight he will;
1. Benefit from not having to pour the milk in the morning.
2. Not require cellophane, reducing his costs and time spent further.
3. The chilled cup will cool his drink down enabling him to drink it sooner, saving even more time.
Now you my friend are a genius :-) with clearly too much time on his hands.1. Benefit from not having to pour the milk in the morning.
2. Not require cellophane, reducing his costs and time spent further.
3. The chilled cup will cool his drink down enabling him to drink it sooner, saving even more time.

Must say I like that coffee mug set up, I might have to set up a few mugs during my in the office so I waste less time on my break making coffee.
Advanced coffee hack.I mixed up two parts sugar to one part instant coffee in a tupperware tub thing, took it to work.
Three spoonfuls in a mug, perfect black with two sugars.
Apart from the difference in density making the different powders separate a bit, requiring a good mix. Perhaps if I ground everything down to a finer grain....
