That’s weird, why on Earth don’t you want Barclays to change their logo on your phone? What possible negative affect can it have on you?
It is puzzling, isn't it.
Not really, some people are fed up with lbgtrstuv being rammed down their throats.

Yes, so wouldn’t it be great if we weren’t made so ‘aware’ of people’s perceived ‘non inclusiveness’. We could all just get on with life then.

The irony of people actually being bothered to complain about some colored pixels on their phone is hilarious biggrin

Ignoring the whole 'ram down your throat' bks, why are you fed up with it?

There are some nutters out there, who attack people in the LGBT community for no reason, other than the fact that they might be gay etc.

So who's to say, I don't use my phone in a public place, and some nutter sees my rainbow icon and assumes I'm <insert as appropriate here> and then sets about me?

It could happen. Remote chance I admit, but it could happen.
I’m with you there mate and I can prove your point.

My Barclaycard app has no rainbow and not once today did I suffer a homophobic beating or a homosexual rape! Case closed!

My personal feeling is that the icon should be optional between the the normal icon and the pride icon.

I guess from my perspective, having a bold pride icon in my phone home screen would send out signals that I wouldn't be wanting to send out.

/controversial mode off.
Oh no! We have the pride flag hanging in reception at our main office, and flying from the flagpole at our London office. What on earth will people think of everyone who works there? rolleyes

Do we use the word snowflake for people offended by the Pride flag, or do people who are offended use it against those who feel that it must be used at every opportunity in case it offends someone?

I'm confused

Do you get upset in the same way by help for heros or cancer research logos and adverts and publicity?

How is a phone app logo changing colour, ramming anything down your throat?

Do you think this is a bit lefty or against your politics or something? Seems like the people against this are the usual reactionary ‘pc gone mad’ PHers that seem to struggle with the modern world.

This is all getting a bit silly. Are you seriously suggesting that you would may get arrested at an aiport because you have a rainbow coloured bird as an app logo on your phone? rofl
No I'm not, but with the attitudes in some places I've worked like Saudi Arabia and Nigeria, it wouldn't surprise me if you got extra questions at security, your bag searched more slowly and thoroughly, generally poorer than usual treatment if they thought you were gay. I said inconvenience, not incarceration 😀

I'm not upset, just giving an answer.

Its having no effect on me, I don't use Barclays nor have any products with them.

I feel it is counter productive to keep on pushing this at those of us who don't have anything to learn. all it does is re-enforce the idea that there is a difference. which there isn't, we are all people doing people things.

Target the scum with education, also have a go at getting the religious side of the debate to stop poisoning their followers. best of luck with that one though.

Isn't that the point? 'His' phone.

When he installed the app, he didn't give permission for Barclays to send any messages not related to his banking so hence I can understand some discomfort.

And being the app icon rather than an in app popup is overly familiar.

I don't like the idea that I have to have a rainbow icon just on the off chance that it might change some scums behaviour while the bds at Barclays rake in more cash from people taking in by the whole "we care" charade.
You don’t even have the icon?

No... it’s ridiculous that a professional service is waving a pride flag in people’s faces. If a normal person went into their workplace waving flags that explain their sexual preferences they would get people complaining quite quickly.

The pride flag does not explain a sexual preference.

It is Barclay's logo to do with it what they please.

It’s not really anything like doing that though.

It depends who’s interpreting it - maybe I am ignorant to the true meaning but it’s not something I care to know about... My view is if a bar has a flag up, expect its patrons to bat for the other team or if someone sets it as their screensaver then their preference is for the anatomy they possess themselves.... I have no problem with that but I do take issue to putting the flag on my phone or taking it into a professional environment where people should keep their views on sexuality to themself.
