Bible said:
1. You shall have no other God’s before me.
2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven images.
3. Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain.
4. Remember the Sabbath day and keep it Holy.
5. Honor your father and mother.
6. Thou shalt not kill.
7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
8. Thou shalt not steal.
9. Thou shall not bear false witness.
10. You shall not covet.
Point of information that won't surprise many.
No. 6 is a poor translation-'no murder/unjustified killing' would be more accurate. They like a bit of slaughter in the OT-if the Almighty OKs it.
And for any Christian apologists out there who think that the God of the Bible is the only god take another look at number 1 in the list. That states quite clearly that other gods exist. You're just not allowed to choose them.

Yeah, god is a bit of a berk.
It might, it's more likely to mean don't create other things in your life to worship other than me, especially as it then goes on to explain it in that way.

Bonkers isn't it. I assumed the bible is just a guide book to be interpreted however anyone wants as long as it makes them a better person. If however people are taking it literally, then wow.

Wow, so educational!

Did you know there are over 200 myths from all over the world about a major flood?

Since the Bible is God’s Word, we can know that the true account was recorded by Moses and is found in Genesis 6–9
That definitely settles it then

Why not? More like you can’t.

Here is something else you will say you “don’t need to do” - provide a definition of right and wrong that doesn’t use synonyms of right and wrong. Which is why morality can’t be absolute, because there is no value free way of defining what morality is.
No, i just don't think it is necessary. I have provided an example of something I think is absolutely wrong.

Your second paragraph doesn't make sense to me, I am not claiming the language around morality is absolute. There are many, many languages that have existed on this planet. I am not sure what a 'free' way of defining something is.

I don't think so - there are lots of things we discover but exist regardless of whether anyone could or would ever discover them.

I hope you didn't think that was me proving the ark was in fact, a thing.

Yes the education in it is terrible, so many assumptions to 'crunch their maths' that are simply false and obviously doesn't address the obvious issues like freshwater life, plantlife, insects, etc. other than to probably just say, god waved his hand and all that got sorted.

Either way 'god' seems insecure and a bit childish.

Not at all smile

I did have a look through the website and it truly is bonkers though. The news report on it carried an interview with a woman who believes that humans walked 'hand in hand' with dinosaurs eek

Some people seem to think The Flintstones was a history documentary.

10. You shall not covet.
Does anyone seriously believe that this is the best moral framework to live their lives by? The first four are around making sure that everyone sticks to the 'right' religion, the rest are the bleedin' obvious.

It wouldn't take much to come up with something far better.
You would also think that God would have a better understanding of the use of apostrophes than that.

Some are outright immoral. Christianity isn't afraid of a little revisionism, and tend to conveniently shorten number 10. The fuller version is this:

"You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's."

So it degrades women to possessions... At a level of houses, donkeys, and oxen.
