Thanks BobbersYes, we’ve been thoroughly exploring New Mexico. Tomorrow, off on 66 as much as possible into Arizona (Seligman) and up to the Grand Canyon. Then down to Phoenix and home.
Been banging out the Eagles etc on the car stereo!

Humble old Route 66, I'm afraid.Written before sex, drug and rock'n'roll had been invented.
Well it winds from Chicago
To LA
More than two thousand miles
All the way
Get your kicks on Route 66
Well it goes to St. Louis
Down to Missouri
Oklahoma City looks oh so pretty
You'll see Amarillo
Gallup, New Mexico
Flagstaff, Arizona
Don't forget Winona
Kingman, Barstow, San Bernardino
If you get hip to this kind of tip
And go take that California trip
Get your kicks on Route 66
Marvellous.

Gude Moaneve Saul and Tundrie.
The day has dawned cloudy bright here oop norf, but a bit cooler after the storm quickly passed yesterday evening.
Looks like psi is getting his kicks and having a jolly good time in the good ol' US of A, but surely New Mexico is not exactly on the direct route ( pron."root", not "rout") from Chicago to LA. That Route 66 must be rather swervy! It sounds like an epic trip, psi! Enjoy...
And keep a lookout for Bobbers on his bike, or the Dwarf and Loony in a V12 of some description.
Nice Skye pics, Hammo, have you had any luck with the birds yet?
Well, I'd better get cracking on my "To do" list.
It won't write itself.
Have a lovely Monday everyone!
And don't do anything I would.

Brings back great memories of a V* convertible mustang, me singing my head off whilst Mrs B tried to duck down. Someone joined in singing in the next car at the lights
We had a whole playlist for our West coast trip...

A gud Monday moaning, trivs!
A lovely weekend has given way to a warm but gloomy Monday, so I stayed in bed and had a mug of tea, watching the BBC's daily doom and gloom update. Onwards and upwards.
My son didn't play cricket on Saturday, as there weren't enough players, but he played for his other team yesterday, batted at four (4), and saw out the innings with 31 not out, which pleased him and delighted me, as he's played three Friendlies pre-season and barely troubled the scorers, so to stick around and finish the innings just 69 runs short of his first century* was a morale-booster.
I managed to get to 15,000 steps before lunch, so I spent most of the afternoon watching the BTCC, and sitting on my balcony, because I can.
Today's plan is morning steppage, followed by afternoon car washing, so I'd better crack on with it. Before I do, there's a narticle in the local rag which might be of interest to any fish finger enthusiasts of the Parish:

Have a good day!
* The late, great Richie Benauld: "Brett Lee, out for two. Just 98 runs short of a century"

I've received this text message this morning from some random number:
I'm not at all cynical, but could this possibly be some sort of scam?
Thats an old one, is that scam still doing the rounds?I've received this text message this morning from some random number:

Proper messages come from a short number from your provider, not a full mobile number - first givaway
https://forum.vodafone.co.uk/t5/Archive/Suspect-SM...
Then you have a shortcode that goes who knows where. It would normally be a proper company link (although watch for dodgy domain extensions - i.e. vodaphone.uk, rather than .co.uk)
Also, that phone number has been reported several times

Bobbers
Third F4 race yesterday where Fairclough took out the race leader Ninovic at the last corner, is that how you saw it. I went to the pub to watch the football so missed the after commentary.
F4 website says
...in the last minutes of the race, Deagen Fairclough started to apply pressure to Alex Ninovic, time and again getting close on the final corner of each lap until on the penultimate lap, Ninovic went wide and Fairclough grabbed the lead, however a recovering Ninovic made contact and ended up in the gravel trap, with Fairclough then heading a Hitech Pulse-Eight podium clean sweep
Hum, slightly biased, because Fairclough ran wide trying to carry speed? 50/50 at best I thought, not Ninovic fault completely?

It did look a bit forced, however they were fighting for a while, as you said I felt it was 50/50.Third F4 race yesterday where Fairclough took out the race leader Ninovic at the last corner, is that how you saw it. I went to the pub to watch the football so missed the after commentary.

Thanks Byker, I've not been aware of this particular scam before, but I was immediately rather skeptical as Iwas unaware that Vodafone awarded points, and as you say, their notifications are usually sent via a five-digit number anyway.Proper messages come from a short number from your provider, not a full mobile number - first givaway

I make it a rule never to click on dodgy-loooking links, especially when told of the urgency to respond in order to claim rewards...
The number that sent me the dodgy text, 07400 214566, was not listed on "who-called-me" but it did say that the 07400 123456 number was listed as a scammmer.
Pity really, it seems a shame that they have notice all those thousands of points I have unwittingly earned will expire in just 3 workingdays time!

I’ve just downloaded the Qobuz Best of 1973 playlist on to my phone to add to the Eagles’ Last Concert, a couple of ELO albums and Crime of the Century to tide us over the next seven hours of driving.
If I left it to my wife we’d be having Kate Bush and the like screeching and caterwauling at us all the way which would ruin the mood, or at least mine.

It’s Battert and his rellies that I’m worried about, not Bobbers and co.And keep a lookout for Bobbers on his bike, or the Dwarf and Loony in a V12 of some description.

Also, it used to be even swervier in these parts as Route 66 went up to Santa Fe before dropping down to Albuquerque and then points westwards, so much so that in Albuquerque it actually crosses itself, depending on which manifestation of Route 66 you are driving on.
Anyway, I hope y’all are having a good day.
