How much do you earn?

Eh? In what way does my post lack intelligence or sensitivity. I was merely pointing out that most British people are not comfortable being specific about what they earn. What exactly is crass about that? 96k per year, as an employee, working from home half the week, which I think is half decent.
Massively above the national average, but probably far closer to my local average, and as a result, feel no better off than I did earning half that a few years ago.
Wife earns about 12k per year, working part time, so if you take our combined earnings the picture starts to look a bit different.
And that is the trouble with threads like this, the numbers mean very little, as everyone will be in different situations and times of life.

Why?
Enough to pay the bills and some left over, no idea how much i actually earn though, would have to ask accountant.
Strange. I've always assumed your niche would be highly lucrative due to the high risk factor. Enough to pay the bills and some left over, no idea how much i actually earn though, would have to ask accountant.
His 'accountant' Tony holds the money, because “banks always get knocked over. And nobody knocks over old Tony.”
I don't get it when people start boasting "my company has X turnover" or "I earn twice as much as so and so".
Someone from a lower income can have a better life (i.e. more disposable cash) than someone earning lots more due to life circumstances - divorce, ongoing child payments, upkeep of cars that barely get used, big house to maintain but only enjoy 1 day a week, etc).
Same with company turnover figures - you can spend a million but it boils down to how much profit you make out of that million. Telling someone you managed to push through a million is like saying "I just purchased a Bugatti and then just sold it"...ok, did you use it or get any profit from this...? Nope. I just make the transaction. Er...right.

I don’t earn a fortune (£25k) and my wife earns roughly the same (£20k+) but after bills, food and mortgage payment I’m left with £1k to spend on what I like. It’s all relative I’ve got mates that make twice as much as me but have less spare cash at the end of the month.
We have 2 motors her mini s (2004) and my Octavia 245 vrs (leased 67) so we’re not scrimping. Would I like more money?? Obviously but am I happy?? Yes
If I lived by myself then that would be a different story.

Spot on. The amount of people that live beyond their means on credit is massive. You can't tell me all these people can afford new 4X4s, Bentleys, Porsches, even the mundane £50k Audi. £50k on a car is a lot of money - way more than what a lot of people would pay outright for it yet when Im on the motorway I look around and there are loads of these types everywhere. Either I'm doing something wrong or they are paying monthly payments - much like their brand new iPhones, TVs, subscriptions, hand bags, money for going out - and thats before a mortgage and children.People love to brag but I bet if you took a look at peoples personal bank statements and contracts you'd be alarmed at how much is on credit.

Maybe they have healthy bank balances and investments because they don't pay for their cars outright?
who knows
ps Is a million revenue a lot?
I earn just about enough to keep my head above water. Wife does not work. All our big things were bought with money from a previous career/revenue stream which abruptly stopped about 6 months ago
Very happy at work though. I loved what I did before but love my current job more. It's v cliche but I feel a lot of fulfilment from my job which I didn't get from my previous work and although earning a lot less, I am overall happier.
