Snowing here in west Wales But the ground is too wet for it to settle
Having watched torrential rain (several hours worth) turn to heavy snow which promptly soaked up the puddles and turned into a few inches of laying snow (within 30 minutes of schmalex's prediction for it arriving) I don't buy into the 'it's too wet to stick,' argument. Ground too warm, the snow itself too wet maybe...I'm sure there's some science in there somewhere.tenohfive said:

Not sure if it was the warmest Winter 'evah' or not now, BBC jumped the gun before, but now seems to have started saying 'one of', may have just missed by a fraction - probably depends which data you use/believe.
It was all down to the exceptionally warm Dec (CET 1.6C warmer than 1974) anyway, although mild, neither Jan (CET 2.1C colder than 1916) or Feb (CET 3C colder than 1779) were anywhere near beating the stated record years and there have been many dozens of warmer Jan/Febs.
