Transferred a place in my local half marathon to a fellow running club member on FB, they haven't bothered paying me. I sent it in good faith thinking no one has the brass neck to mess about for the sake of £35 given I have their address etc, I've given them plenty of time and been polite, and even seen them enjoying the race in their photos so I know it's not an emergency etc. Radio silence on messenger trying to chase it up, despite them being online numerous times a day.

Do people just expect not to pay for things these days? I'm not going to escalate things for the sake of £35, but it's more annoying than anything else!

Really disappointing, I'd be calling them out on the running club FB page for that. Not so much to get anything but just to let others know not to deal with them. Real scummy behaviour.

Or just go running and bump into them in front of other people, asking for the money.

Are they "considerably richer than thou"? I find the biggest merchant bankers are the ones who are wealthy.

Actually the chaise longue looks a bargain. Some new fabric and you've got a tanner profit.

I'd be round about 8:30 pm sitting in thier lounge, having a cup of tea. I'd be staying until I was paid, or until they moved house.

I think the ‘scammers’ would have to be pretty desperate to try to scam for a £20, ex dog sofa? Can’t imagine there’s much of a market for them.

It sounds like the type of item you'd have to pay someone to take away

Just leave it in your front garden or on the road and ask the council or housing officer to move it for you?

Happens so many times, I do think there is a big section of the population who have nothing better/else to do than browse Facebook and ask pointless questions about items they have no intention of buying.

The other thing I find is that there's always someone who simply ignores the price you ask for and offers a swap for something. I've lost count of the number of times I've been offered an xbox in exchange for whatever item I've advertised. I bet if I stuck an advert for an xbox on there someone would offer me a bloody xbox in part exchange hehe
I was selling a Berlingo with 90k miles on it and a year's MOT for £1100. A guy offered me a Berlingo with 115k miles, No MOT and some work needing to be done. I asked him to clarify, and the response was yes, it's a worse car, but I'd put some cash towards it.
I didn't bother to ask how much cash. Not unless it was £1000 and I'd make up the difference by taking his immediately to the scrappy.
In the end it sold to a nice lady who turned up when she said she would, drove it (with proof of insurance like I asked), made a fair offer then collected the next day.
I had a similar experience selling a motorbike. You have to sift through a lot of bks on the messages, but once you get an actual person it's usually alright.

People like that are infuriating

I’d say something like “my friend lives in “insert next road along” I can ask him to pop round and pick up the cash if you are having difficulty with electronic transfer.

For me it’s not necessarily the money but the cheek of it

My sister is just like this, never has her purse on her, I’ve started to only bring cash which is always in the car, she magically finds the card then. You have to remind her that she paid for xyz by using her phone last week (her phone will magically start playing up)

Put a small 4 man tent on marketplace with pictures, it was used as a shed whilst a new shed was put up. and one picture you can see the internal space & of course you can look up the make & model on the internet.

Some joker asked for pics of the internal space…expecting us to put it up again & no doubt they would disappear laughing into their cherry cola vape.

I had NO messages on a 50kmiler 2012 Mondeo Titanium X in absolutely mint condition. Not a single scratch. Not a bite. Sold it to my BIL who sold it a week later for 2.5k more. Insane.
