Talking to people as an age group - gen z ers, millenials, boomers etc

Is anyone actually so narrow minded as to believe that every human on the planet aged within 10 years of each other have the same beliefs and actions?

I switch off as soon as anyone uses those phrases. Probably makes me a snowflake........

Nope, I'm with you on this. Pathetically narrow minded, and often a lazy way to insult an entire group of people.

These so called Gen Z people who blame "boomers" for absolutely everything that's wrong in their life are pathetic, as if they would have done anything different, does it occur to them that boomers didn't plan anyone's downfall, nor are they all rich and prosperous like the seem to believe.

Is it really so hard to treat people on a person by person basis?

I don't like the 'woke' term.

Myself, parents & girlfriend we talking about new words, terms etc we don't like & I was trying to describe woke without actually saying it. My description came out as follows -

"The word I don't like is a 4 letter word beginning with W. I did it this morning & have done it every other morning"

After a brief delay I worked out why I was getting some funny looks!
Myself incorrectly used is one that drives me nuts.
Nothing looks more stupid than someone trying to look clever/cool.
I genuinely didn't know that was incorrect use. Every day is a School day, myself only got a C in English, mind.

The correct grammar for your sentence is:
I, my parents and my girlfriend were talking about new words.

If it sounds or reads awkwardly, this is because it is good etiquette to put yourself last in the sentence.

What would be taught in schools is :
My parents, (my) girlfriend and I were talking about new words.

P.S. Good luck with more conversations about "W"-ing with your possible future inlaws. biggrin

Really? It's a game of football FFS. I have no interest in it all, probably in common with the majority of the country. It's been shoved down our throats for weeks.

No doubt we'll be suffering the lionessization (sic) of our 'heroines' for the next 50-odd years until we win something else.

It's coming home.

How long before the hype train departs for the world cup in Nov/Dec? And we have to endure this total bks every day until England get dumped out in the group stage and a self elected player has his effigy burnt outside his club for the next six months.

Lionesses ... again.

We have managed to get away from feminising occupations so we have female actors, managers, hosts etc, but we still use the term Lionesses.

I wonder how the girls will do ?

No fk off. They aren't girls. They are women. Fully grown adult women playing football.

They were "girls" until they were maybe 13. Then "Young women" , and once they got to 18 "women"

Stop infantalising grown adults (to the media and commentators in particular)

I’m not sure it’s any different to saying “how the lads will do” tbh.

It's because they have some chance of winning something, whereas the male team has none.

A highly ignorant standpoint.
The use of "mental health" when they mean "mental health problems". To quote an example "Unless you've had mental health you can't possibly understand"
