Charlie Puth, even his name annoys me, before I even give any consideration to his music.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: the suffix "gate" added on to any scandal. Two threads in the F1 forum that are putting me in to a blind rage with their titles are Renault Brakegate and Ferrari: Enginegate.

Watergate I can deal with, due to the Watergate office complex where that particular scandal ocurred. But the others? fk right off!

I'm with you on this one. F1 seems to have a particular fondness for it - add Spygate ad Crashgate to your list.

This :

... to log in to a forum (Peugeot if you care). Why do I want to have to invent a password to conform to such rules which differ from any others so therefore I shall have to write it down somewhere ? Would I really care if someone "stole" my forum login ? No, I really wouldn't. Grrr.

Just use the same password as you would for other sites.

That's a terrible idea!

Use a Password Vault with a built-in Password Generator and generate a unique password that conforms to whatever odd rules have been specified.

Until...that site gets compromised and your email/password gets used to attempt logins on literally thousands of sites per minute until they get access to the others.

Don't believe me? Stick your email address(es) in at https://haveibeenpwned.com/ and see what has happened to all those throwaway logins you've forgotten about.

Never, ever reuse passwords across different sites.

Exactly. yes

If you reuse passwords across sites, then the moment it gets compromised on one it will be tried on others.

How can I be sure that site isn't just harvesting email addresses?

If they want to access my account on here or other car forums then they can go for it as I really couldn't care less.

Web forums that have a user control panel but don't let you change the colour scheme or the font.

You're by all means welcome to be irresponsible with your web security, but please don't advise others to be similarly so.
